Also, the “changeling menace” was supposed to have been eliminated after their conversion into nu-changelings. So it’s unlikely the Mane Six would’ve considered that more likely than their friends just being snappy. Especially since they were in a sketchy neighborhood and things weren’t going well for them.

What I’m sure the show is not privy to is showing the real characters being totally awful to each other during moments of bad attitudes. We get an episode or outbursts here and there, but no near downright evil statements because of a bad day.

That remind me of a similar situation in the live-action adaptation of Sailor Moon where one of the character deduce that her mother was replaced by a clone simply because the clone forgot her daughter was supposed to bring her her lunch (in context ,the mother is organizing a fashion show and logically could have forgotten about her lunch since she’s very busy)
 
The moral of the story is:  
NEVER FORGET THE LUNCH.
