The Furred-Coated Lamia, or "Fluffy Lamia" as some endearingly call it — is a rare species of lamia in Equestria. While the first sighting of this species dates back to a little more than a milleaium, the first case of contact with one was only as recent as twenty years ago.
Believed to have developed their defining trait by means of adaptation and mutations over the years, different types of furred-lamias are found across the vast books across Equestria. This particular lamia, Withers, is a tundra based lamia. His fur grows at a rapid rate to form a thick, fluffy, and warm coat. He has a much fatter underbelly primarily done by eating a mostly meat based diet. And most impressive is his type is one of the few species of lamia who does not need to hibernate for the winter. His natural body colors easily help him camouflage into his natural surroundings in the harsh winter landscape.
One special detail about Withers however is that over the past few years, he has slowly adapted to warmer climates. Often working in the jungle, he has made himself endure warmer climates. Often by shaving down his fur from long and fluffy to a short and coarse coat, and having a more balanced diet of plants and meat — Withers for the most part can work in hotter climates. Since he is still cold-blooded though, in very hot climates the crew often needs to bring a large supply of water with them. The one thing that still hasn't quite adapted as well is his eyesight. Since he was used to seeing much more dreary places with little sunlight, he can't see all that well on his own. To combat this issue, he is often seen wearing a pair of shades.
In relationship to others, he has 4 close friends that he works with in the field of archaeology. Nogan, Biff, Deep Pockets, and the leader of the group who wishes to remain anonymous. Withers says that he cares about them deeply, and while he can get on their nerves sometimes (mostly Biff), he stated that he would never try to intentionally hurt them. The anonymous member of the group had spoken up about Withers and how he impacts the group as a whole:
"Is he a pain in the flank sometimes? Yes. Can he hard to work with since he's a giant snake? Definitely. But do I ever regret workong with him? No, certainly not. While we can have our fallouts with him, I myself can appreciate how much he cares about what he does and the ponies he works for. On the occasional expedition to colder regions up North, I cannot think of one time he hasn't helped us from freezing to death up there. He may not look loke it, but the kid has a lot of knowledge in that simple little mind of his.
Doesn’t matter if it’s pale.
What does matter is if it’s cherry-flavored or not.
Well for the most part he isn’t that fluffy like this. It’s usually shaved down to the normal coat length in the show (super short and coarse) He cleans himself at least 3-4 times a week by brushing excess fur, washing himself in nearby lakes or pounds (or if they’re near civilization, either Biff, Nogan, or Pockets will just get that 5 gallon water dispencer bottle), and the occasional shave down. Add onto the fact his underbelly is large and smooth as hell, he doesn’t really have it touch the ground often.
now the 1000 dollar question
how does he keep his fluff clean and fluffy after spending his whole life slithering around?
Im hoping I can inspire the growth of fluffy lamias in this fandom. Who wouldn’t want a cuddly noodle like this?
Also yeah, he looks pretty good with them.
nice shades tho

I’m Sorry, I’m just tired as shit now. :p
Snake boys just don’t get enough love :D
He’d be warm as hell in the winter time especially.
@SnakeyThingy
He’s pretty much a giant pillow/blanket. :>
@Mesme Rize

Also from a thread I posted this in since it’s really amusing:
@40kponyguy
Finally, for anyone bored enough to read some crappy writing — there’s a mini bio thing down in the description now.

With floofy coils like those, who wouldn’t lay on them?
Doesn’t add or take away, it’s just a different form. P:
I’m legitimately curious, does giving fluff to a snake away from the snake, adds more to it, or just does nothing?
A very true statement.
“How to bait Boltmod. Snake boys.”
He be a cuddly long boi.
