Sounds like social anxiety, which I suffer from myself.
 
Social anxiety disorder is no fun. I know how much I overthink how people view me and take upsetting people very hard.

it’s a little difficult to explain why I went from not taking requests to only early this year doing a couple then not doing any & then going back to doing 1 or 2 but the approach I normally go for when denying requests is a “sorry but I don’t do requests” which I’m always being polite about. I haven’t had any negative feedback from the people who’ve requested me (yet anyway) but sometimes when I do get asked, it can be quite pressuring hoping that I ain’t being an arsehole when denying requests (which is never my intent) & as well wondering if the request meets the requester’s satisfaction _{(which it usually does but you never know. there are many people in this world & you never know who they really are until you’ve met them)}.

Nah. It makes sense. You don’t want to do requests, but you don’t want to say “no” to people if they ask, you’re trying to find a polite way to say that you don’t take requests.

well, I don’t normally do requests but I just felt a little weighed down (even tho I was only asked once) & just thought i’d do this user the 1 favour.  
at the moment, i’m doing 1 final (hopefully) request for someone before I update my DA journal talking a bit about requests (that I won’t be taking them. I may even put an “I don’t do requests at the moment” on my deviantID as well) just so that users (watchers as well as passers by) know & won’t be compelled to ask (I know I may get a few who will ask for one). sometimes, I find it difficult to say no but that doesn’t really explain the few I have accepted.  
& I keep forgetting to look more into commission taking in case I ever do decide to do them.

I saw. I didn’t know you made requests, but I read that you don’t feel comfortable doing them in the dA comments I think.
