i heard that half the people that made this episode worked for Hasbro and not DHX so it may not have been the same person all the way through

S3 Luna’s voice just sounds weird in both instances. It’s hard to get over the impression she made in S2 with her booming Royal Canterlot voice, now that she isn’t using it anymore.

I said it somewhere else but I think Sweetie was doing it on purpose. She was having fun, not trying to make it sound nice. It was “99 Barrels of Oats on the Wall.” That’s an obnoxious song that goes well with obnoxious yelling. Just because someone sings well doesn’t mean everything they say will sound angelic.

Yeah, usually Sweetie Belle has a sweet singing voice, even when it’s loud. Today, she was worse than Scootaloo in The Show Stoppers.

@BP No… she didn’t…

And no one is acknowledging that Luna’s speech development has been a major theme of her character? Maybe… just maybe… she’s using a more casual form of speaking now?

She used the Royal Canterlot Voice with Celestia a few weeks back, didn’t she?

Luna was being quieter than in her last appearance, as well as using different speech patterns. With that in mind, she still sounded like herself.

Scootaloo did sound more feminine to me than she usually does, but she was also displaying more emotions than usual, which would likely account for some of that. She usually is only aggressive or excited, so hearing different emotions is kinda surprising. Her voice actor is still a teenager, so vocal changes are also to be expected.

I’m not using feminine or emotional as a slight, but Scootaloo usually sounded like a little boy to me. With this episode, she sounded more like a woman.
