It’s no wonder Appljack family has monetary issues when they spending all of it building extra farmland barns and houses. Though maybe the cows, pigs and other livestock are beginning to over populate? Still seems to be a waste of resources that have been just saved for repairs.

I’m not sure they do; maybe it’s just a hobby. “Welp, got no apples to harvest. Might as well build a barn.” Or maybe it’s like those sheds in front of the Home Depot. They build them for show, then disassemble them down after they’ve been sold.
