That too, though as it’s been stated numerous times, Pony Rarity is one thing, but Human Rarity has yet to actually show attraction to any males.
Plus, the way she behaved around Vignette was rather similar to how her pony counterpart behaves around her crushes.
@Marusame
if you’re saying ‘rarijack’ as in platonic non romantic friends, then yes. You should remember that Rarity has only be depicted as hetero thus far
@Alexlayer
I’ve picked up on all the hints the staff have dropped and I agree they are essentially going as far as they can to depict Lyra and Bon-Bon as a couple under the limitations they are bound by. However, none of that is a direct confirmation, and there is still enough of a grey area for them to claim plausible deniability and for viewers to interpret those scenes under a non-romantic light. For instance, despite that EqG short ending with that heart shape around the two, the short itself depicts the two of them behaving platonically around each other.
I’m not disregarding the authorial intent here; as I made clear above, I support what they are doing. I am simply acknowledging the facts before me. While they is plenty of hinting, we’ve yet to receive anything that confirms beyond a doubt the two of them are romantically involved. And because of that, I still respect those who view the two of them as nothing more than platonic friends, even though they are largely ignoring the authorial intent.
@cloudkicker108
So the Hearts & Hooves date mean nothing? The way their EqG short ends in a heart shaped… whatever you call that that’s usually a circle when the screen goes black, mh? Or that the intention behind this is to actually present them as a couple inasmuch as their rating allows it?
I fully get that subscribing to “Death of the Author” is a valid stance, but if you’re gonna disregard authorial intent, valid or not, it’s still a disrespectful attitude.
@Alexlayer
Except that doesn’t make it canon. I’m a firm supporter of the LyraBon ship, yet I still wouldn’t call their relationship canon, despite all the hints the show has been piling on. Something doesn’t become canon just because one of the many valid interpretations is romantic in nature and because you personally believe it to be true.

what? you don’t know about them. the writers are the bosses and it’s up to them, not us about things we want. they focus on friendship for children and they know exactly what they are doing. they don’t do things of what one wants.
Whether or not its confirmed really doesnt matter for this short movie. AJ was used as the male in the jealous lover story trope, at the end of the day, when the writers want to tell the more romantic stories its just easier to use the main 6 and dial back the casual romance.
So for the purpose of the story they wanted to tell in THIS movie, rarijack is a thing. period.
I dont feel its going to be canonized but it certainly was used in this to get the story across without bringing in a random male.
Shippers really were a mistake. Until it’s hard confirmed either in show or by writers and isn’t overridden by higher ups (see Zuke formerly from SU crew) shipping is just headcanon. It’s fine to headcanon ship but please don’t start spamming ‘confirmed’ until the writers say so first. No implications, no ‘oh shoot, they looked at each other for more than 1 sec’. Just straight up, the writers say ‘yeah, these two are dating’. Plus, remember that even a ship in the EQG verse doesn’t mean ship translates over to the regular FIM verse. Despite the similarities, the ponies and human counterparts are each their own seperate people.
The creators probably want to show how strong their friendship is rather than do anything romantic
Look at the facial expressions and body language. The same things would automatically be viewed as romantic were it a het couple. The animators knew what they were doing. Whether it was in Nick’s script or not the animators were deff shipping it.
Again it’s pointless to argue about because it will never be flat out confirmed or denied by Nick. The general point is it was intentional on the animators part and that’s OK.
And if Hasbro did allow it or any other ship to be fully canon some day that’s up to them, not us.
After Rollercoaster of Friendship, I’m personally inclined to disagree. XD
