There was an “Appleblack” tag, but the mods nuked it because they felt that it didn’t serve a purpose and a little bit insulting.
 
And the reason why my Applejack is black, is because I Headcanon her to be black, and I thought that dark skin goes with her orange coat color and eyes/mane color as well.
 
I don’t have any problems with people portraying Applejack as white like the majority of her human fanart does, if you headcnaon AJ as being white, that’s cool by me, I Headcanon several characters as white even though soemeople may headcnaon them as black, and vice versa.
 
I just have a problem with these sorts of images getting hate BECAUSE the character is black. Yes I know that it may have to do with the art style, I know that what is considered good art varies from person to person, but it feels like a lot of black skinned humanisations get a lotof unfair hate because they are black.
 
Like with my dark skinned stuff getting a lot of downvotes and normally involves people trying to stink up the comments, I always get a feeling of “maybe this wouldn’t get as much hate if I made them all white instead” :/
 
I like seeing what other peoples ethnicities/skin color headcnaons people have for characters on the show, I think that it’s nice to hear (espiclaly since none of the cast seem to have any canon human skin color or ethnicity), im friends with several people who have different headcnaons for the cast.
 
I justgo by the thinking of it’s ok to cast the characters as whatever skin color/race you want, just as long as you can respect that other people might view what them differently, and as long as you don’t act like a dick to people over it and try and act like your interpretation is “canon”.

I blame toxic internet fan communities of children’s cartoons for poisoning fanart. It used to be that you could draw whoever you wanted however you wanted because you wanted to, dammit. Now everyone assumes you have some hidden agenda when you break the mold for any reason, and people get bullied mercilessly from all sides when they dare to draw a canonically fat character skinny or a pink character black or a blue character white.

I’m going to agree here. I have no problem with characters being whatever race, but I have a hard time believing that the girl with the straight blond hair and the green eyes is black.
 
Also, why isn’t “Appleblack” a tag yet?
 
PS: I don’t think you’re a racist piece of shit if you don’t feel a character belongs to a certain race. If your reasons were “Fuck the blacks”, then sure. But “I don’t think their appearance, their voice, and the way their act lends credence to X particular race” isn’t racist.

I don’t see any of the girls as African American. Not because I’m a racist piece of shit, but because I don’t get that feeling from their voices or the way they act. Actually, the only 2 girls I feel are darker than white are RD and TS.

Considering 99% of the characters have hair colors no human could naturally have, using a pony’s hair color as a basis for skin tone isn’t a great argument. Black people can have green eyes, it’s just uncommon. Same with freckles. You can Google either “black skin green eyes” or “black skin freckles” if you want examples rather than taking my word for it. And as someone who lives in the South, I can attest to the fact that there are plenty of black country people, it’s just not what’s depicted in TV and movies.
 
I frankly don’t care if you or anyone else agrees or disagrees with this headcanon, but please stop saying that a character can’t be black just because you imagine them as white.

@ice1517 - It’s because Applejack would NOT have skin that dark, she just wouldn’t. She’s a blonde-haired, green-eyed, freckled country girl. She would be a very tanned white girl at best. There are characters that other people headcanon at having beautiful dark skin like this, like Zecora, Luna, and one of my favorites is Twilight, but it just doesn’t suit Applejack at all. It just doesn’t.

Forgive me if im coming off as blunt or anyhitng, I just get tired of anything I get that has a character as dark skinned going into hate and downvote territory.
