I’m not saying that the old library wasn’t cozy or nice or anything. I even said I liked it. I was just listing the perks of the new castle.
 
I didn’t know that about wood being more psychologically cozy for some people though. That’s rather fascinating. I prefer tile and concrete though since termites aren’t attracted to that and won’t eat them away.

That’s like comparing the marble floors of a school building to the cozy wooden walls and floors of a log cabin. Wood is actually psychologically known to be something people feel more cozy and at home around: When the Russians did the Mars-500 experiment they even used wood facade paneling on the simulated spacecraft interior specifically for this reason - to give it a more cozy, homely aesthetic.
 
I mean… It’s nice they got their own rooms, kinda, and I’ll give you that going to a queen-sized canopy bed is an upgrade, but man, heaven to me is the Golden Oaks.

As far as how they look on the outside, the Library wins for me. But the inside? The castle wins for me hands down, not just for appearances but function as well.
 
Twilight has her own bedroom, Spike has his own bedroom (instead of being in a dog bed right next to Twilight’s bed), Starlight has her own room (and ther could be even more guest rooms in there), there’s a throne room and a round table where all of the Mane 6 get their own seats, there’s a kitchen and other rooms so the place can function as an actual house, and the castle has its very own library too.

god I hate it when people write things off as not Canon just because they don’t like them

Personally, I kinda liked the library getting destroyed. It added an emotional loss to the Tirek battle, and gave Twilight more push to stop him. It was almost like killing off a beloved character, and I liked how Twilight had to deal with her loss, as she has many fond memories of it.

True, I remember some used to complain about minor things in the first season. Like Luna’s existence being ignored, the confusing moral of “Feeling Pinkie-keen,” and some used to bash the CMC for “ruining the show,” before they started hating on newer characters. I saw one “fan critic” on DA whom hated the episode “Cutie-mark Chronicles” so much he considers it “not canon.”
