i hope someone does a MLP/Equestria Girls comparison with the Queens of Mewni from Star vs the Forces of Evil as theirs just been a book about them released a while ago (its really a published form of the Book of Spells from Star Vs. itself but without a pop up Glossaryck even though their is a pin-up style pic of him at the start along with his annotations throughout the book) and I’ve seen the chapters of that book being put on Tumblr

All of them will be in Ralph Breaks the Internet. Whoopie-freakin’ doo!

Furthermore, the line itself, and the formula that spawned, is currently Disney’s LEAST money-maker.

Disney makes far more money out of Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

OBJECTION!

While the merchandise line itself didn’t exist until 2000, the Disney Princess “formula” was well on its way as soon as the Disney Revival started with the release of “The Little Mermaid” in 1989.

You can tell by the “Animaniacs” skit “Just Another Princess”, which made fun of how tired and cliched the formula was.

Likewise, “Shrek” (the first one) was meant as a direct counter to the Disney Princess formula, and that movie entered production before the existance of the merchandise line.

Furthermore, even if the merchandise line was launched in 2000, the early 2000s was the beginning of Disney’s “experimental” era, when they were trying to break the mold of the Disney Princess formula with movies like “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”, “Treasure Planet”, “Lilo and Stitch” and “The Emperor’s New Groove”.

The formula wouldn’t come back until “The Princess and the Frog” in 2009.

I like most of the pairings but I’m not sure about Juniper/Jasmine. Also I think Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle were paired with the wrong sister. Elsa’s more elegant so she might pair better with Sweetie and Anna is more out going and I feel that suit the farm girl Apple Bloom.

Finally Sunset and Rainbow are good with their pairings, but they could easily switch partners and it would be equally appropriate.

Similarly, the concept of a set lineup of Disney animated films didn’t exist until 1985.
