Very good to know. After looking at them online I can probably make coffee faster with such a setup too. Coffee press and electric kettle added to my Amazon cart along with a few other random items next time I can afford to blow $100. ‘Preciate it y’all.

You can use a kettle for a coffee press, too. I use one in my truck with hot water from a thermos :D

you can still use an electric kettle for making coffee, you know. My father always would use the pourover method for making coffee

They’re more efficient and safer. Their heating element is submerged in the water (instead of below it and separated by metal) so all the heat goes into the water, boiling it faster with less energy used. The element being inside the kettle also means unless you’re REALLY trying you’re not going to burn yourself with it :D

Registered users have a fifteen-minute limit too. I think the only exception is site staff (and they can edit just about anyone’s comment anyhow, e.g. Rule #7 compliance).

Yeah, I can definitely imagine how odd and awkward it could be to have a little teabag pony staring seductively at you from inside the cup while you drink the tea she’s getting a nice, hot, relaxing soak in.
 
Also, I know you can edit your comments, but BPs have a fifteen minute time limit to edit them, I didn’t know if I could find Badum’s comment on the other image in time, and I personally just can’t find anything I’m looking for under a time limit, so I filed the report before I even bothered looking for Badum’s comment.

Do you mean that in the sense that it’s normally too weak for you, or just that you go through a lot of it?  
Either way, she acts more like a tea strainer than a tea bag, so, if it’s the former, you could just give her the leaves for a stronger tea (hell, you could probably just feed her ground coffee beans if you want), or if it’s the latter, then you can just reuse her instead of throwing her away.

Modern kettle appliances can turn themselves off when they’re done. If you’re nearby, you can hear it happen, and you’d know your tea’s ready.

More object pones! :D Could someone please tell me (bear in mind I tend to stay 5-15 years out of date with technology, I’m not a Mennonite but I follow the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ mentality) what the advantages are of a kettle appliance over just throwing water in a pot and turning it up to 8 on the stove?
