It seems unlikely that the first two griffons we see as other than background characters happen to be sisters. Then again, Gabby learned about ponies from watching Gilda deal with Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash’s visit to Griffonstone. So she very well could be Gilda’s little sister trying to imitate her big sis.
 
Don´t forget about Gustave le Grand and Grampa Gruff.
 
It would make sense that they are sisters.
