You’re only making the point worse. Take away the pony of shadows, who was the hammy, over the top, enjoyable villain who made it even slightly bearable to watch, and you have Stygian, a literal one note fill in with no character whatsoever.

At least they(minus Stygian sadly) were included in the final rainbow laser, which sadly the royal sisters weren’t despite their cutie marks were on the tree and they founded the Elements first after the Pillars disappeared.(Guess losing their connection to use the Elements means any significance the sisters should have in terms of with the Elements/harmony stuff gets disregarded by destiny apparently.)

Not sure how the dethroned Twiley. Maybe as actually most magical main character, yes (although that does piss me the fuck off considering it’s lore from early S1 Twiley is a unique prodigy trained with nothing less than her entire life spent under the personal tutelage and attention of the most powerful pony to ever exist, and of the S3 finale, had possibly become the single greatest and most accomplished wizard eve – I’m glad the show mostly forgot that.), but not in plot focus and story emphasis. I wish we got a lot more time with Stygian, especially with Starlight.

To be fair, by season 8, she’d thoroughly dethroned Twilight as a main character and had taken her place on the Main 6 as the overpowered neurotic unicorn.
 
Probably could’ve phased Rarity out so she could focus on her dream and replaced her with Stygian as well.
 
Pity there weren’t replacement pegasi or earth ponies for the rest.

You can chill, seasons 8 and 9 really did great work with her. They really took away her Sue status and stopped trying to push her as the 7th mane character, a serious problem with her in seasons 6 and 7.

…except hammy, over the top villains who exude comedy and bravado have always been MLP’s strongest. Then bronies wanted shit to become ‘serious and mature’ so they can feel better about liking a little girls’ show. This villain is nothing but a summation of the toxicity that the show’s morality has become.
