I never heard that particular criticism. One criticism I heard was about King Koopa being a tyrannosaurus-turned-human. And, as far as that’s concerned, what’s to say that King Koopa wasn’t a forerunner to Bowser?
Especially considering that one of the criticisms that I’ve heard is flat out wrong.
