From what I’ve seen the hate for each is pretty even. Post anything involving Sunset in /mlp/ and you’ll have bunch of people screaming “not canon” or “Sunshit” or something of the like that. Of course Starlight gets hate too, mostly from people who think she’s an embodiment of everything that went wrong with the show. I’m just numb to all of it at this point.

The problem with stuff like this is that youre putting a chatacter in unfamiliar environment. Sunset was not written nor made to be a FiM chatacter thus saying it would be better or not is major speculation with little grounding in reality.

Plus, you ever notice Sunset-fans insult Starlight, much more here then Starlight-fans insult Sunset? Hate to sound biased, but it’s very noticeable, especially in earlier Starlight pics.  
It honestly makes me lose respect for Sunset/EqG’s fanbase. If somebody was editing Starlight in screencaps to replace Sunset, everyone would be angry. (Heck everyone got angry over Starlight just making a one-shot appearance in EqG. Said complaints being mostly stuff like, “This is Sunset’s show! Not Starlight’s!” Meanwhile, those same people want Sunset to replace Starlight in the Pony show. Not biased at all!)
 
In regards to a comment below bashing S8, I think I’m enjoying this season more then EqGirls.
 
I thInk I’m going to leave the thread, as I don’t wanna be harassed by Sunset/EqG fans, like I have before, (nothing against the nicer ones) which is why I’m so sick of the “Sunset/Starlight” drama, nor do I want to start another pointless “Sunset/Starlight is better!” argument.

Sunset’s colors (red/orange) are no more different from Applejack’s colors (orange) than Starlight’s (purple/pink) are from Twilight’s (purple). Heck, I’d say she’s closer, given that Starlight is almost Cadance’s color.
