Name: Delta Race: Pure pegasus(?) Talent: Unknown, presumably something to do with flying or light Family: Sea Salt (wife), Moon Sugar (eldest child), Paper Stars (youngest child) Info: Captain of his platoon in the Equestrian Army. Delta’s past wasn’t shared with his children, so if he has other family, their whereabouts are unknown. A kind-hearted but determined stallion, he disliked raising his voice at his soldiers, and earned their respect with his loyalty and fairness among the Equestrian Army instead. It’s not known why he enlisted to fight in the Battanian War, nor why he was living in Canterlot - everything Moon Sugar remembers of him came from her own childhood. Nevertheless, Delta was a wonderful, loving father who doted on his children, and had a wonderful sense of humour. Though he spent a lot of time with Moon Sugar, he only knew Paper Stars for a few weeks; a little under a month after she was born, he was called back from leave to the front lines, and died in battle a week later.
Right: Name: Sea Salt Race: Pure bat Talent: Unknown, presumably an ignored ice cream-related talent Family: Delta (husband), Moon Sugar (eldest child), Paper Stars (youngest child) Info: Sea Salt’s generation was the first wave of bat immigrants to Equestria during the Battanian War. Small numbers of bats came over from their own kingdom during the early years of the war, wishing to live peaceful lives. Despite being allowed to stay in Equestria, they were met with harsh racism, and often considered third-class citizens, below even the poorest of ponies. Sea Salt came to Equestria with her mother and elder brother; the former died of illness shortly after, and the latter soon left to wander Equestria alone.
Angry at the hatred present in the world, Sea Salt demanded she be enlisted in the Equestrian Army, looking for an outlet for her anger. If it meant she got to hurt people, Sea didn’t much care where they sent her. She was the first bat ever enlisted, and was accepted only because to deny her would have caused a national incident. Assigned to Delta’s platoon, she quickly spooked the other soldiers into distancing themselves from her; though she was small in size, she was vicious in sparring. Only Delta dared agree to be her training partner. Though he suffered many personal injuries at her hooves over the years, slowly he earned her trust, and his influence waned her temper. By the time they wed, she was a changed pony - Sea didn’t smile very often, but she was sharp and direct instead of hateful and violent.
Delta was the source of whatever happiness she had found, so when he died in battle, leaving her alone with their two children, Sea Salt sadly lost her mind and committed suicide a few days after. As a result of this, Moon Sugar was left to raise her infant sister alone, and for this reason, she harbours a great deal of resentment towards her mother and refuses to speak of her to this day.
As you can see, Moon is similar to her father in stature/height and wears her hair in a similar manner in his memory, but most of her colouring comes from her mother. Paper Stars looks very much like her mother, but gets most of her colouring from her father - with the addition of star magic, which basically turned her into a bright rainbow mess. Both of their children inherited Sea Salt’s eyes. Paper Stars has her mother’s dry sarcasm; Moon Sugar has her father’s kind heart and sternness.
