Spitfires actually in character in this, yelling at Scootaloo, this is how she acted In the comics, she was never great with kids, just like many adults in the real world.

After getting a celestia episode and more chrysalis the only two things I wanted were a LD redemption and batponies. Here’s hoping season 9 delivers.

Poor Dusty was supposed to get her redemption in Wonderbolt Academy, now she got screwed over again.  
This episode could have been great but it was such a letdown.  
I can only hope for a redemption next year.

I havn’t actually watched it yet, but I’m genuinely disappointed after reading the comments for it. I’ve been wanting her to get redeemed for 5 years.
 
I’ll also defend Spitfire as one of my absolute favorite ponies. The writers just suck at writing her as a hardass without being a giant jerk. Thankfully the fandom does her great justice.

Of course it could.  
They could have reconciled by boding over their common fan.  
Scootaloo could have gotten in trouble and Dusty could have helped Dashie to save her.  
There are so many possibilities for redemption and reconciliation and each of them would have been much better than this slap in the face.

Eventually, perhaps. But the episodes are 22 minutes long and I really don’t feel like it could have been done in that time.

And Dusty still saw Dashie as a friend.

It wouldn’t have been, though. It was already hard for Rainbow Dash to forgive Gilda, a childhood friend, for being a dick to her friends.
 
Lightning Dust, on the other hand, nearly got Rainbow’s friends killed. Yes, it was an accident, but it could have been prevented quite easily. To suggest Rainbow would be willing to speak to Lightning, who wouldn’t be interested in apologizing for being all she can be, is…not the way Rainbow would act at all.
 
It’s not as simple as you think, friend. Remember, LD was the antagonist. You may have a headcanon that says she was unfairly slighted, but that’s not the point here. And what she did was posited as being pretty terrible. Terrible enough for Rainbow to forfeit her dream. That’s not a finger snap to forgive and forget, mate.

A redemption and reconciliation between Dashie and Dusty would have been easy.  
There is simply no excuse for messing this up.
