This line holds much more emotional weight after Growing Up Is Hard To Do and The Last Problem revealed that her wings are still tiny, even as an adult…

I bet this was the last straw for Scootaloo.

Wheelchairs exist to help people who can’t walk get around. Maybe they could have something to help her fly, like Tank has…

Well that’s true, but writers have kept to her original ideas… for the most part. Sadly yes, Hasbro will speak up and ruin visions, but could any of us imagine how awful it would be if Scootaloo flew? All of those episodes that were good lessons for people with disabilities would be tossed aside because “Hey, she’s just a late bloomer, it’s all good!”. And THIS powerful scene would have much less impact.

Faust left the show years ago, and the show has changed from her vision, shes either going to fly or not fly, It’s not up to Faust anymore, everything she had planned Isn’t canon anymore.

1: I don’t want her disabled, instead I want her to be an interesting character, I’ve always felt that she was the most boring of the CMC, now she’s a bit more interesting… Plus, this isn’t real life, in real life I would never want someone disabled, but here it’s the story and the characters that matter, if everything was to be fine and everyone the best person they can think how bland the world would be, conflict is the core of stories and accepting a disability is an amazing conflict.

…Why are people surprised? Didn’t anyone read Faust’s old Twitter pages? Scootaloo was written as a disabled pegasus and it’s been hinted at for years she’ll never fly. I’m astounded so many people are just like “WHAT? NO WAY!!” and “OMG WHY???”

It hasn’t ruined my wish, because as someone with a non-obvious physical disability, I hope Scootaloo doesn’t fly. I’m and have a soft, raspy voice from a paralyzed vocal cord, and it makes me very self-conscious whenever I have to talk to anyone I don’t know, or in a noisy public place, or on the phone. Scootaloo is pretty much the only time in a show I have ever seen a character with anything similar to what I’ve dealt with my entire life. That frustration and anger you feel about Scootaloo not being able to fly? Welcome to how I low key feel every time a cashier asks if I’m sick or when I just shut up at a restaurant because I know I won’t be heard by anyone else at the table. So honestly, no, I don’t want Scootaloo to fly, because it’s great to not just finally see a character with a non-obvious physical disability, but to see such a big part of the show be about believing in yourself despite it and teaching society how to talk to people and be encouraging without being condescending.

So were you guys just in denial or are you slowpokes? Scootaloo not being able to fly has been known for a very long time, like season 2 early. And was finally confirmed in Flight to the Finish, surprising many that they actually based an episode on a subject that seemed too dark. It was always on those brony episode wish lists.  
How can you all act like this is new info?

She finally said it, and I wanted to cry and cheer all at once. This is what I’ve dreamed of for years, not because I don’t want her to fly, but because I wanted her to admit it was a genuine limitation without sugar-coating it.
 
Now she can try other methods of flight.
