Nightmare Moon: Our first villain of the show and a really great one at that. NMM was very cunning, theatrical and somewhat tragic. It was sad to see Luna become this malevolent queen of darkness, but that was resolve when she was redeemed. Nothing much to say about Nightmare Moon as others said, she’s great to make stories with and even greater to draw.
Gilda: Okay, I’ll be honest, I don’t really like Gilda that much. Never did in “Griffon the Brush Off”. She was just a big bully picking on everyone in her way. Nothing really evil about that. But she’s included because she’s a popular character and does have the potential to kill someone. Nothing much else to say about her except, awesome.
“The Great and Powerful” Trixie: Oh, great and powerful one. Oh, how I adore you. You have so many fans for your tricks and your personality. How can such a lovely character be so wicked? Well, “Magic Duel” turned her ‘bitch-o-meter’ to full max when she not only beaten, humiliated and played cruel tricks on our heroes, but became a dictator over a small town as well! Yikes! Either way, still a great character and still rising to the top.
Discord: Although Discord later becomes neutral chaotic in season 3, he was defiantly down right diabolic in his first appearance. Forcing out of control situations and emotional drama just for his own amusement. He’s also a wild card in the series now, meaning he can just be as sarcastic and troublesome as well as helpful to some. While defiantly in the top four, I fell his rank is a bit lower then number 1 due to “KCaFO”. Still, a fun character.
Ahuizotl: I think everyone was surprised yet amazed by the result of “Daring Don’t” I didn’t expect Ahuizotl to be a real villain, seeing as he was just a storybook character. But now, he’s completely canon and a true awesome villain. He’s certainly one of the more aggressive of the villains, I mean look at his design! He is also surprisingly very comical as well, which is funny. Hopefully, his popularity grows up to the point he joins the ranks of best villain. He is very deserving.
Garble: Again with Gilda, Garble wasn’t really that evil in “Dragon Quest”. He was just a big bully, a teenager and a real prick. So then… Why do I like him more then Gilda? Well, as one of the non equine villains, he’s the first to be a Dragon, which were my favorite things to draw as a child. He also has the potential to be a rival to Spike as Trixie was to Twilight. Not to mention when he get’s older, he could be very ruthless in his aggression. Who knows, but he does deserve a shot to be a very popular villain.
Queen Chrysalis: There is no question in my mind, Queen Chrysalis is my favorite villain of the series. I love her so much and I wish she returns in a future episode. She is set away from many of the villains. One, she’s not a returning villain from the past (NMM, Discord and Sombra), she come as a surprise and was introduced. Her plan nearly succeed if she wasn’t stubborn. and.. she’s the only villain to get a song. I KNOW THAT’S NOTHING, BUT IT’S STILL AWESOME. Defiantly number one with me, I would happily serve the Queen of the Changelings.
King Sombra: At first glance, yes. Sombra was a disappointment to a lot for his lack of words, lack of character development and lack of a story. But he had such potential and in someways, is the darkest of the villains. He enslaved his entire kingdom, mastered really powerful dark magic and was a force to be reckoned with. And the fact that he was just a unicorn and his mere presences struck fear or danger? That’s very menacing. I’m not getting my hopes up if he returns. But if he does, give him more story, a bit more dialogue and motive and you trully have one of the best villains for sure.
((FYI, Sombra and Chrysalis are my OTVP))
Nightmare Rarity: This is sorta cheating since the she never appeared in a episode, but still in popularity. The nightmare forces return in the possession of Rarity, who use her not only as a vessel to doom everyone, but to make sure the elements do not defeat her. Very clever. She also has a great design and is just as theatrical and evil as Nightmare Moon. Though not a canon villain, a pretty good one at that. Especially since it’s a corruption to one of my favorite Mane 6 ponies.
Sunset Shimmer: Much like the movie “Equestria Girls”, Sunset was a big… meh. She was basically Trixie 2.0, except she had real magic and posed as a big threat to Twilight. And the fact that she was close to Celestia as well means she’s a big villain. But… her plan was stupid. Really? Control an army of Teenagers to take over Equestria? You clearly pulled that out of your ass at the last second you got the crown. Oh well, egomaniacs. While not a bad villain, not a good on either. Still, her demonic form was cool.
The Mane-iac: Our latest new villain and first villain introduced in Season 4. And BOY was she a lot of fun to watch. With the back story and mind of the Joker, hair powers of Sedusa and voice of Ellen Kenned, she makes an evil, comical and fun villain. She also had a very cool color scheme to match. It’s a shame she’s not a complete character and will only appear in a book, but that won’t stop the fan fiction writers from pulling her into canon world!Hopefully, we’ll get more villains like her in the near future.
All these characters belong to Hasbro, I own nothing but the drawing style.
