I don’t think that this image means Luna has a particle of Nightmare in herself from now on, more it’s serves a retrospective purpose, reminding her, forever, that she made a mistake. One that cost her and everyone around dearly. She is not going to remove that, no matter how much time has passed, no matter what she did, that it will always be with her.

Also a possibility. More likely, in fact. That would make this Celestia trying to console her sister and asking her to stop blaming herself for the past… which is, in and of itself, a very moving thought.

I really really like this picture. From the face expressions (those emotions!), Luna’s transforming mane and tail, to that ominous entity in her mane.  
I know you shouldn’t explain art, but I’m dumb and have no idea what’s going on.  
Is Luna changing back from Nightmare Moon and that’s Tia’s 1000 years overdue hug of joy?  
Or is she turning into Nightmare Moon and Tia knows it’s the last she’ll see her little sis in a long time?  
Or it’s a follow up to >>1814758 , Tia overdid it and this is basically “Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan” picture ponified?
