not understanding friendship, is like not understanding what it means to be responsible with the power

That last one honestly just didn’t make sense…Hasbro, explain everything!

Villains can be forgiven and reformed if they value friendship, love, peace, abundance and/or prosperity as the top priorities.  
(These are long-term satisfactions, it is like getting fruits from a slow growing plant, but it gives you for long time)
 
They’ll fail to reform if they value grudge satisfaction, winning and/or control manipulating over what’s good mentioned.  
(Yet, these are short term satisfying but never in long-term, took sometime for people to understand this, it is like enjoy hunting rather than farming)

I remember early into the pony fandom people kept begging and pleading for a season to have a good story about redeeming a villan.

Non of them was supposed to be there.  
Commiting high treason by allying with somepony like Sombra is simply completely out of character for all of them.

I seem to recall Iron Will actually acknowledging the fact that he was picked as a villain and how he wasn’t supposed to be there because the mastermind hadn’t seen his episode.

Not if they have to villainize Dusty, Iron Will, Flim and Flam like they did in the comic.  
The Washouts was painful enough.  
I also think that the writers have other plans for Sombra.

Siege of the Crystal Empire is clearly refuted at that point.  
Dusty did never commit high treason and neither did Flim, Flam and Iron Will.  
Sombra is dead (at least for now).

It breaks continuity of the show. In To Where and Back Again, Chrysilis talks about their plan “last time” which was A Canterlot Wedding, and she’s a main part of that comic. So is Lightning Dust and the Washouts also make that clear she hasn’t seen Rainbow since Wonderbolt Academy. The CMC don’t have their cutie marks when they should iirc.
 
And, if I recall, the official stance is that if the comic contradicts canon, then the show takes priority.

I already mentioned Tirek, who isn’t reformed, and Sombra, who like the Storm King died on-screen (although apparently Sombra got better…sorry, I’m not buying that though xD).

Uhh…yeah, let’s just forget other villains like Triek or the Storm King…you know, the guy who FUCKING DIED!? Yeah…yeah, sure, everyone’s getting reformed.
