@AC97
This. What Sunset has over Glimmer, according to people who care about that aspect at all (which I don’t), is that her peers reacted more realistically to her reformation and were suspicious of her until she proved her good intentions by saving everyone. That’s all well and good but this is not everything that makes a good reformed antagonist in my opinion.
Where Sunset loses is the actual reformation (brainwashed by lasers vs convinced in a touching scene), realistic personality change (instantenous vanishing of all negativity, with only mild anger showing on rare occasions, which isn’t a uniquely her character trait, vs very gradual learning about what is good and what is bad and lots of baggage), actual character (good at everything and simply an angel vs many flaws and certain personality quirks), heck, evil plan when she was an antagonist (really dumb vs one of the best villain episodes in the show), even backstory, despite many people’s feelings about Starlight’s reason for going off the deep end, at least she had one.
Sunset is basically a gordon freeman-esque vehicle to portray how you can fit in among people who used to hate you if you’re a really, really good person. Starlight is an actual character with her own story and visible, well-defined progression.
@Turnways_Flip
Just because an opinion is “popular” doesn’t mean you’re even remotely close to expressing it in an agreeable manner.
“I like Sunset Shimmer.” <- popular opinion. She is a popular character.
“I like Sunset Shimmer more than Character X (Starlight Glimmer, Spike, Ms. Peachbottom, whoever).” <- Still popular opinion. Also “better” is simply another way to say this.
“Sunset’s character was portrayed earlier than Starlight Glimmer’s.” <- Objective fact. EqG1 did come out before S5E1.
Sunset is literally Starlight but done better and earlier
<- A mix of opinions. The one not addressed already from them is “Sunset is literally Starlight.” This is simply an untrue statement. This isn’t popular opinion, it’s just simply evidence that you’re an idiot. There are similarities between the two, but they are not literally the same character, or even all that close. The differences between the two far outnumber and outweight the similarities.
As for “dogpiling” eh. Just because you try to mash a popular opinion in with your nonsense doesn’t mean other people who like Sunset Shimmer, like me, are going to agree with your nonsense or side with you.
You’re the one introducing childish “arguments” into things, and complaining when others turn it back on you. You look ridiculous posting your meme images to declare you have “the truth” when you’re blatantly dishonest. You claim others don’t know the meanings of words, but you’re the one using words you clearly don’t understand. Or you do understand them and are simply lying. Either way, you’re clearly in the wrong, and people are simply pointing that out. Calling it a dogpile is just in-character for you to try to shift blame for people simply not buying into your shit.
@Cryosite
I don’t think you know what any of that means.
@DiscipleOfAndrewRyan
For the one with a “popular opinion”, I sure seem to be the one getting dogpiled on here… and yet, for the one arguing against “the truth”, I have facts to back me up. That all seems highly unusual.

An actual fact is, Starlight has had more meaningful relapses than “almost 180 personality Sunset”.
It depends on which approach you favored, but I personally think Starlight’s was better than “woobie that does no wrong the very next movie”.
Suuuuure you do, lol

Don’t kid yourself into thinking your meme image wasn’t a “no u” already, dude.
Congratulations, we are all very impressed with your grade-school-level “I’m rubber and you’re glue”. Maybe next you’ll try a “no u”.

No, I think he’s saying he hates the truth, but that’s fine because the truth doesn’t care that he does.
I think you have truth confused for popular opinion. :U
how do you people even come up with this stuff?! :O
>better
lolno
already fix XD
Starlight : After what she did, not anymore.
Twilight : What does she do to you.
Starlight : She stole my ice cream twilight and it’s the last one.
Twilight : That’s it, seriously.
Starlight : When it come to ice cream I take it serious.

The “Family” logos are different hues as well.

There is no possible redemption for this! Throw her in Tartarus next to Cozy Glow!
Yeah, if you look real close, Sunset’s colors are subtly different in the two frames. I call shenanigans!
