I kind of figured that she did that thing with the CMC because she needed their help to learn all she could about friendship. Either to keep her cover from being blown or because she genuinely thinks that it would help her manipulate people. After all, she does think that friendship is power.
And getting thrown into Tartarus after failing to take over the school clearly wasn’t part of hwe plan but it seems to have worked out well for her.
No clue about the Friendship U thing though. That was weird.
@infinita est lux Solis
PROBABLY a bad idea to put glimmer in the middle of a giant field of infinite magical energy that is made to be harnessed then if “Gather all the power in one place and become a god” is your goal.
@Background Pony #F37E
My current headcanon is that she was storing that magical energy for later use. I like to think that said later use was to funnel all of it into herself and become this but Cozy Glow-ified.
@Zth97-2
Pyhric victory at best: Okay, she sent glimmer and the magic into another dimension. Great. Neighsay, the CMC AND the student six all have her number, and neighsay has already gone to alert celestia.
She’s a little filly, and the princesses along with her royal guard are coming (albeit slowly) to basically kick her head in for this. Great, you got, what, 20 juvenile kids as your pawns? that’s cute and all, but physically its not going to stop the people coming for you and since neighsay is respected by celestia, she’s probably going to believe him over her. Case in short, she’s going to get hauled off in chains when the princesses get there. This is even BEFORE adding in the fact that the mane six escaped tartarus and would have physically taken her prisoner once they got back.
Her plan was good as a “step one”, but she really lacked a good “Step two” to maintain power.
@Ardashir
Well, since she’ll be spending her formative years in a cage in Tartarus, I’d imagine she won’t be much danger as an adult because her cage will be way too small to move around in. Or even grow naturally in, probably. Anyone remember “bonsai kitten”? She’ll be like that, but more evil and horsey.
@genervt
She comes up with plans that she’s not afraid to alter at a moment’s notice, and in ways that actually work. She’s one nasty and dangerous little filly.
Now imagine what she’ll be like when she hits adulthood and has all the knowledge and cunning she has now and more besides.
@Background Pony #F37E
…..yeeeeeeeaaaaahh…about that…
I thought a similar thing (if not the same) about Trixie back in Se1, Starlight back in the beginning of se5, and Chrysalis back in se2 finaly.
If the Motive is still there then you can be Damn Sure that they’ll find a way to get back.
She may have no magic, but looking at what she did without it…she doesn’t even need it to be a threat.
IN FACT, it’s BECAUSE she looks so Cute/weak/unthreatening/innocent that makes her so dangerous.
I’m sure you’ve seen the episodes to know exactly what I mean ||She literally played, manipulated and out smarted everyone and would have won until the Tree of Coincidences and the students stopped it. She did ALL OF THAT using only her cute exterior, ability to influence, and knowledge.
And to think that The Sirens had to do that WITH magic, Starlight did it with the Assistance of magic, and Chrysalis had to visually turn into someone else to do it. ||
BOTTOM LINE: THIS GIRL IS DEADLY.
Honestly, cozy glow comes off as a “one shot” villain– she has no actual power of her own, and her entire ability to accomplish villainy came from Twilight being INCREDIBLY lax with the security of magical artifacts of incredible power around her (By being below notice) and dealing with students of incredibly low intelligence (the student mob at the end was basically lemming tier to have been listening to her when starlight was trapped in a giant ball in front of them).
I really don’t see how she can be effective in any way shape or form in the future as an asset to the villains given she can be defeated by an average pony kicking her and no one in their right mind is going to listen to her now.
It seems obvious that Cozy was originally meant to be a spy in Twilight’s school, probably Neighsay’s, and either she was always meant to go rogue and develop her own agenda, or the story was rewritten to make her the master mind which ended up conflicting with her being a spy despite the groundwork for her being one already having been lain.
I really liked the finale, but Cozy’s actual schemes are simultaneously the most interesting and the weakest element of the whole story.
Indeed.
Friendship U was probably so Twilight would be too distracted to notice Cozy’s shenanigans.
Xanatos Gambit.
The best plans are the ones that work in your favor even when they fail.
And getting thrown into Tartarus after failing to take over the school clearly wasn’t part of hwe plan but it seems to have worked out well for her.

Cozy Glow was the most powerful and evil kind of villain: a politician.

Yeah, those cages were kind of small, weren’t they?

They didn´t fool her for a second.
I also really loved it how she turned everypony against Neighsay (and later the Student 6).
My favorite part of that episode was her seeing through the CMC’s distraction, it proved her competence.
She was frighteningly competent and disturbingly close to victory

Almost being the key word
Just because you know she is evil doesn´t mean she cannot manipulate you anymore.
