Do I have to pay to see my waifu in it?
Pretty much. Either that or lots of grinding. If you want to play it it is not an action pony game. It is just a casual mobile game with lots of micro transactions.
EDIT: There was one event where it was impossible to get the final reward unless you spent about 20 dollars.
In some events you also have to stay some insane amount of time awake, otherwise you lose the limited time rewards.

Pay to win?
There are 644 characters to obtain, and over than half of those are premium.
Just saying I bought a helper and it is still hard to win. The only way to win this event fast and on time is buying Shadow Lock, Radiant Hope and Chrysalis (50 dollars) and buying some shards on the store.
Pretty much any kind of mobile device.
Despite what people say, it’s not a bad play. But exactly what people say, it is everything that’s bad about mobile games and ‘Fee’ 2 Play games.
Note that even dropping that $160 during that sale won’t get you more than a few ponies out of over 200 or so characters now.
No, it’s not on Steam and don’t bother with the PC version either because it’s years out of date (they stopped updating it, so you won’t see this quest).
You would need a smart phone like an iPhone or an Android phone.
