Continuing the series of MLP villains engraved in black Baileys bottles, my third bottle features king Sombra. Among the MLP villains I think he may be the one with the most unexploited potential in the series (while there are some very interesting comics about him).
Thank you very much, Background Pony #88DA :)
I see valid points in both views and am not contradicting a point of the show being to reform villains through friendship.
I just think that with a long, elaborate and long buildup the end seemed to fall a bit short to me and also left a lot of questions open (about the umbras in particular). A good story which I very much like, but which (just my personal opinion) could have been improved if given a bit more time towards the end to match the great buildup.
I see your idea, but that’s kinda the point of the show to reform villains using friendship.

I also am far from discarding the comics. Far from it ;) I love them.
Perhaps a few pages more or an another comic making the reformation more of a gradual process rather than a comperatively sudden event would have appeared better to me.
Maybe a vicious side of me just likes for some of the villains to remain unreformed lest lack of evil for comparison makes the ponies forget how to tell good from it ;)
To me I didn’t find it rushed. I thought the pacing was really good in the comic. I chalk up the end to Sombra being excited.

Aye, though this still leaves the option for him to be picked up in the show once again. I like his origin story in the comics, but I must say I found his reformation in the end a bit too rushed.
