That certainly seems to be the case - considering all the things she names off in her rant telling off the (illusion of the) Storm King are things found above the water, combined with how broken up she seems to be about having to go into hiding underwater again - it really does seem like she’s experiencing them for the first time.

I assume that as seaponies, they went as close to the sea floor as possible when they needed to go.

I always thought it’d be kinda funny/grimcute to see how hippogriff transformation messes with that kind of stuff.

Also fun fact, fish can “breathe” air just fine, their gills just dry out very fast. So she could probably shower in seapony form.

She would probably freak out when if someone explains to her how showers work now.

They’d probably have to swim way out and downstream, otherwise so many seaponies in such close proximity would be way worse than a kiddie pool… and I’ve seen yellow kiddie pools before.
 
No wonder she loves plumbing. Weirdness aside, not having to go 10 minutes out of town to use the restroom is great.
