One day, When Sugar Skull searched for ingredients for one of her spells in an uncommon forest, she was curiously lured to a place far beyond it by a glowing stream. This beautiful stream had kept her following the pathway that it lead until she eventually found herself exactly where she needed to be. A rare flower was hidden here, one that she had needed required for a spell she had been working on, but this land in question wasn’t visited much by ponies at all for a long time. This was until now; she had the ability to search for a much needed plant, and in doing so, she ended up bumping into a very quiet, glum-appearing Kirin with a blonde, brown, and white mane. He at first calmly tilted his head as she continued asking questions, but after she had continued her search, he continued following her, almost like a lost puppy.
 
Sugar Skull, a bit uncomfortable at this point, asked for him to leave. With his ears lowered, he left where she had been walking. Skully continued her journey, investigating every tree and bush for her much needed plant, and it didn’t take too long to find it. Almost immediately, however, she was met by strange and rather large insect that approached from the tree she was close to, and it appeared angry. It was like a large, terrifying spider, but almost bigger than a pony, with the rare flower being his favorite source of magic nectar. She hurryingly ran from that area of the forest, scared of the giant spider that had been chasing her for the flower, but after seven minutes of hear-pounding panic, She was suddenly stopped by a vicious shout, and before her stood a large colt Nirik, scaring away the large spider with his flaming mane and tail.
 
At first, it terrified the unicorn to see a large Nirik so close, but the Nirik didn’t appear to wish any harm on her. He suddenly turned back to his normal form as kirin, and before her was the same Kirin that had been following her that morning. Sugar Skull thanked the kirin for the protection, and made her way back to the path from where she started, but once again caught the Kirin following her by some trees. Skully looked at him and rolled her eyes, not understanding exactly what he wanted.
 
“What? I thank you a lot for what you did, but I don’t have anything to give you…” she sighed at him, but he just further approached her and investigated her mane. She backed up a bit wierded out, and the Kirin lowered his head, finally speaking up. He calmly apologized for being odd and quiet, but it was just how it was to live as a Kirin. He further explained the situation he had been living in with the other Kirins… Skully wasn’t sure what to make of it, but she felt a sense of kindness and trust from him, and further added that if he wanted, he could come to Ponyville and enjoy some food at one of the local cafes to calm down his stress. He grew immensely excited hearing it, and following along with her to Ponyville.
