when you wouldn’t care about all your flaws and failings, if you could just get someone to overlook those and do you. and until that happens, no matter how sincerely people love and appreciate you, you know they love and appreciate you… and find you too revolting to be intimate with.

Actually, she has been trying. We’ve seen she has written ever since the series began, so she does do it. Her art is newer, but she has been shown going to art lessons and still everyone pushes her down (part of that is she may be too fragile emotionally).
 
She has been eating healthier foods whenever they show food in front of her, and she has at least attempted to work out in a couple comics.
 
So she is trying, but just isn’t getting the results yet.

The worst thing about it is that this Twilight is a lot worse than FiM Twilight. She’s constantly concerned about what people think of her, yet she puts no real effort into improving herself. She’d lose weight if she’d stop pretending she doesn’t eat a mountain of fast food, she’d be a better writer if she put more effort into understanding others. Her biggest problem is herself, and she can’t get out of her own way.
