I have never said I wanted love and tolerance, but it is kind of ironic how someone like him gets to actually be liked by people that watch a show that above all, tells you to be kind, tolerant, etc. Not that I wasn’t expecting something like that to happen, however.
And yeah, I don’t think this nitwit can make a huge difference at all. If things don’t stay the same, they will probably just get worse (and the chances of that happening are not small).

Yeah, if only we could be like Captain Sweden… Now that’s a country that knows their shit. Europe general is doing so much progress while we have to be losers.
In all seriousness tho, Brazil doesn’t give two shits about that religious bullshit, Bozonoro want’s to move the Brazilian embassy to Jerusalem where it’s safer and cheaper and all around better living conditions for the people employed on the embassy, specially for the woman.
If that means muslims can no longer eat our meat we will just sell it to someone else who will them re-sell the same meat back to them. Either that or they starve as I don’t think anybody can get five billions dollars worth of chicken and cow to sell them.

Unfortunately, by wishing him luck, you’re also wishing awful things on a significant portion of the country’s populace. The weakest portion, the one unable to fight back and the one who will not have enough support to deal with a lot of the policies that come with his government plan. His worst case scenario is, by far, the likeliest to come to fruition because he has, unlike his opposition, enough support from the people AND institutions who hold actual power (Many of which have their own interests in mind far that are far removed from what the less fortunate individuals in our society would need, many of which work ridiculously hard, yet still suffer from terrible living conditions because of the current shape of our economy AND society.)
He represents, above all, hatred and fear. That’s what’s driving the masses towards him like moths to a lamplight. His platform is one of simple solutions to not-so-simple problems, some of which are very likely to cause their own brand of rather egregious issues. Unfortunately, the “good things” you might’ve heard about him have been most likely colored by disinformation and falsehoods. But then again, he’s a man with painfully obvious and readily recognizable fascist traits, so that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone, really.
It’s a very unfortunate state of affairs for Brazilians either way, however, for the opposition also represents their own brand of awful things (They come from a party with an enormous history of corruption, a party which had their roots formed in socialist ideals, no less), so there really is not an ideal choice in this matter. Still, I firmly believe that this mongrel of a man will deal the country the worst hand because, as I said, he is the one most likely to gather support for his most horrid and egregious policies and ideals.
Not to my knowledge, but he did get stabbed recently.
At least that is what I think it is.

It’s actually quite the opposite, a good portion of that fellow’s supporters are basically following the very same ideals and views of a huge part of Donald Trump’s voter base: Extreme anti-communism, racism, misogyny, wider gun access to the population at large, destruction of the environment in favor of short term economic benefits, along with a few more tasty “Brazilian flavored” tidbits like the support for torture and military dictatorship (And those are just a few I can conjure off the top of my head.)
Now I’m not saying that being anti-communism is a bad thing (I can’t say I have much sympathy for communism itself, in fact), but everything else you got there… It’s one hell of a doozy. You have a lot of folks turning a blind eye to every single loathsome thing that guy represents because they believe this will somehow “save the country from a communist dictatorship” which, while well intentioned, is a misguided sentiment at best.
