My idea and design of the Kirins of “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic”
 
Kirins are a race that is half pony and half dragon. They come from a country known as Kirina and hardly ever venture into Equestria. They are omnivorous, meaning they will eat meat and plants, though they will usually eat fish. Kirin are either born with antlers or horns. There have been times where a Kirin is born with both. Like ponies, males have a squared muzzle while females have a round muzzle. And like unicorns, they have magical abilities. Many Kirins of the past have created incredible spells, spells which a normal Unicorn would have trouble learning. They have even created spells which allow them to gallop into the sky and manipulate clouds like a Pegasus. Unlike Ponies, they are able to use either water or fire. Each Kirin is born to use either water or fire. It is unheard of for a Kirin to be able to use both. Also, due to being half dragon, Kirins have a longer life span then ponies do. They are able to live for 400 years. Many Kirin are proud warriors, ready to serve and protect their land, their family, and their Emperor.
