What “majority” and who cares?  
Even the production staff called them as specials. Meghan and others did too in SDCC 2018 panel.  
Then, they are specials.  
Also, EG 5 is already announced in Thailand convention 2017.  
The general audience go with the easy route and use the term “movies” because it’s incomprehensible for them to use terms other than episodes and movies apparently.
 
 
And plz explain to me why no one ever called the 2-parters and the upcoming holiday special movies? (Since they’re also under 1 hour as claimed by you enough to call the EG specials movies)
 
Fans can’t get out if their comfort zone than EG is NOT just movies anymore.  
 
I don’t even think ALL “fans” have watched all of the shorts, music videos and choose your ending shorts.

You keep bringing up shit I already said. just because it’s not over an hour does not men it can’t be considered a movie, irrelevant of what it’s called by the majority.

The 44-min specials are not even 1+ hour long like the movies and the same length as a normal 2-parters.  
Mind you that FF and RoF were always produced and meant to be 5-parters.

hence the “ “, because saying “Specials” after they’ve stopped being special sounds weird. and given that both are just under and hour long(FGF more so), which more than makes them eligible to be considered movies or more aptly “Short movies”.
 
But of course the argument could then on go even further when we ask ourselves what does “Short movie” really mean? Back in the day, a long movie was only about 30 seconds, it wasn’t until near the turn of the century that we started needing movies to actually be a substantial period of times.
