We know? Is it conformied yet? As far as I know, there are only some leaks about a possible creative process. And Hasbros bad habitute only to confirm the next upcoming season. I don’t follow interviews or statements made by show staff guests on the conventions (like Babscon, Whinny City, etc.). So if you know more, please enlighten me. :-)

But we already KNOW what’s going to happen. Season 9 will be the last season, and G5 will be a reboot.

And with all the Relunchs and Remakes and so on the last years in so many franchises, I would never say never. :-)

Well, like it or not, the concept of the show is to sell toys. That’s the reason why we got the Castle of Friendship and the School of Friendship, and so on. Regardless the panic about a G5, I think it would be better to use a timeskip. I agree with the fact, that there is enough potential to continue for 2-3 seasons, but Hasbro needs a good reason to sell their products.
 
My only hope is, that they will realize that the expansion of the cutie map actually is a good idea. Okay, first we have to finish the School Arc, but than again adventure time! Ironical it would be a fallback to the original intentions of Lauren Faust. But except to swallow down their pride, there is nothing they had to loose. Exotic places = new playgrounds, books, figures, pluschies, etc. Sorry, I’m not so much in merchandise, I really don’t know what exactly Hasbro sells. ;-D
 
I expect 2-3 seasons G4, than there should be a timeskip or a G5 with new main characters and the “old” mane 6 as mentors quite like Celestia. Or new adventures beyond Equestria at least. EQG can do whatever it wants. I don’t mind. It’s a funny, likeable spin-off and yeah, I love Sunset like many others, but without a real plot or a threat, there is not much to hope for. The concept of Equestrial magic affecting the humane world is nice, but it lacks some serious consequences. We need more DRAMA! And a fix for the plot hole, why exactly anything bad out of Equestria lands in the humane world. Were is the connection!? We definitely need a portal explanation episode staring Star Swirl. :-D

I think Starlight should stay until the end of the series.
 
The students should graduate at some point and could serve as ambassadors for their people (recuring characters).
 
The revisiting of old characters and places should be worked in between.
 
I also think a second movie might be a great way to end the series.

That’s true and some of that I am in favor of. (Lightning Dust). Personally though I prefer to see another self-contained two part premier threat and then get just a full Season of grab bag fun content.
 
How does this sound, Seasons 9 and 10 could wrap up the School Arc / Starlight Glimmer story. And then you use Seasons 11 and 12 drawing from the catalog of let’s say the first 6 seasons expanding on old concepts/characters and tying up loose ends.

While I agree that would be an amazing outcome I think it would only work if the MLP staff stopped trying to add in new dynamics every season and told the writers to look at the first 4 seasons and use that to expand with.

I would claim that 11 or maybe even 12 seasons are quite possible without any loss of quality.  
For example we could revisit characters like Babs Seed, Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon, Lightning Dust, Suri Polomare, Gilda/Gabby and many, many others.

While I think there is a risk of the show overstaying and decaying a bit, I definitely can agree that it has enough steam left to get to a very noteworthy Season 10.

I am hoping for several more seasons of FiM. There is still so incredible much potential for many great stories.  
G5 can wait a few years longer.

Without getting into spoilers, if you’ve seen them, what do you think. I’m personally of the opinion that with no mention yet of a Season 9 in production Equestria Girls may be set to go on after the end of Friendship is Magic.
