To be fair, the Wii U’s failure can be mostly chalked up to poor communication about what the system was and what it did. Most people thought it was just an add-on for the original Wii. Hell, even I thought it was when I first got it, thinking “wow, this thing is a lot heavier than I thought it’d be” when I first picked up the box, only to find out why when I got home: it was an entirely new console and not just an add-on.

And this is a slightly different topic, but even throughout the Wii U’s lifespan, only a handful of games truly utilized the TV and gamepad to their fullest extent as a synergetic relationship. There were what, 4, maybe 5 games that used the gamepad as an integral part of the experience? Splatoon, Mario Maker, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3 and maybe Zombi U? Because that game has been ported to other systems where it proves the gamepad isn’t entirely necessary? Every other big game like Tropical Freeze and Smash were better off being played with the standard Wii remote or classic/pro controller.

PS4 was the only one that did it right this generation with the option to copy your save files to a USB drive. Xbox One has free cloud backup but only cloud backup (not the ability to copy to USB).

This means that you have to rely entirely on Microsoft keeping your backup safe while with the PS4 you can make as many backups as you want.

I also don’t like how you are forced to delete old saves with the Xbox One (yeah it’s 2GB per game but I like to have keep all my Fallout saves).

And they don’t sell the controllers in stores. Which means that if you want the Famicom controllers, you would have to buy from someone selling theirs (for an insanely inflated price I’m sure). I doubt Nintendo ships the Famicom controllers to America (even if you do have a Japanese account here).
