And the reason again why most fans felt like they could get away with that kind of crap was again because of the lack of lore regarding Alicorns. Most OCs in the fandom for them to work or to be believable to the audience and the viewers must conform to the principles and the laws of the setting: Unicorns are the only one of the Three Tribes that can perform Magic, Pegasi are the only ones that can naturally Fly and manipulate the Weather, Earth Ponies are just there and they are normal with no powers whatsoever. Alicorns on the other hoof have no such stated restrictions to their general abilities since we only had Celestia and Luna as a baseline to the entire franchise, and without additional lore that could serve to contradict the Fans ideas for what Alicorns are supposed to be, they grabbed that Football to run all the way to the End Goal for a Touchdown.

The main reason there’s a stigma against alicorn OCs is because the vast majority of the people creating them in the early days of the fandom did so because MY TOTES ORIGINAL CHARACTER IS A MAGICAL PRODIGY NAMED EVENEING TWIZZLE WITH A PET SALAMANDER NAMED NEEDLES THAT CAN BREATH FIRE AND SHE CAN FLY TOO BECAUSE WHY WOULD I CHOOSE BETWEEN MAGIC AND FLYING WHEN SHE CAN JUST DO BOTH AND ALSO SHES THE COUSIN OF PINKIE PIE AND TRIXIE AND NIGHTMARE MOON TAUGHT HER EVERYTHING SHE KNOWS AND TWIZZLY TURNED HERSELF TO STONE OUT OF GRIEF WHEN LUNA GOT BANISHED TO THE MOON BUT NOW SHES BACK BECAUSE TEH STARS FREED HER THE SAME TIME THEY FREED LUNA AND….

The Alicorn stigma began because there was never truly any form of Lore about Alicorns and what they are supposed to represent in the series: originally this is because the only Alicorns were Celestia and Luna who controlled the Sun and Moon and were worshipped like Gods, and Lauren Faust only wanted them to be the only Alicorns in the entire show. Then A Canterlot Wedding happened, where not only were we introduced to Princess Cadence with no build-up or preamble to her character as she came right out of nowhere despite her close familiarity with the main character, but also Celestia ends up getting bested by Queen Chrysalis: a mere mortal being that was only empowered by the strength of Shining Armors’ love for Cadence; when it would have made more sense if Chrysalis was strengthened by Cadences’ love for Shining Armor in order to put Chrysalis on an even playing field and as a result preserve the divine image of Alicorns… also, Luna did not participate in the fight at all when it would have helped establish her presence and character even more than what we had gotten thus far in the first two seasons: Hasbro quietly pushing Luna aside after the Pilot episodes due to her being listed as a “villain” when it was already established that she was REFORMED, ironically, her reappearance in Season 2 looks more closer to Nightmare Moon than her “Woona” Form in the Pilot. Then the events of Season 3 happen with the resulting pileup clusterfuck caused by a short Season (only 13 episodes as opposed to 26), Twilight becoming an Alicorn seemingly out of left-field, and the first Equestria Girls movie where Twilight goes into the Human World and it is cringy with that animation style, the first MLP:FiM movie should have instead been all about Twilight stepping into her role as a Princess and helping to ease the audience into accepting her Ascendancy: something that would arguably happen, but only YEARS later in the 2017 movie and by that time the damage had already been around for so long. Season 4 was just as worse where despite being turned into an Alicorn Princess: essentially nothing had changed at all for Twilights character arc, a fact that Twilight herself clarified in the season finale when compared to the other three Princesses.
 
This all combined together is part and parcel the reason why most of the Fans have such a stigma against Alicorn OCs.

That’s a bold and ignorant claim. There are in fact many who still care about the fanfic and it’s characters. The reason they don’t speak much is because most Nyx art is shitposting. However, if you look at the quality art of her as of the last month, you’ll see many different faces expressing their love for her.
