Description

She knew Hawk Eye had moved to a place called…the “hooman” world? She knew that he also had a home in Ponyville…damn! She should’ve gone there first. Galaxy Guard had no idea why she thought Hawk would be here. It had been so long and she just…thought he would. It seemed logical. Now, not so much. She forgot. She just knew that Hawk had left Equestria and she wasn’t sure how she’d respond if Turquoise Edge answered the door.

She walked past the rock fields, following the trail in sad silence. It seemed…quieter than usual. She wondered why that was. She reached the door and with a shaky hoof, knocked. She was relieved to see Hawk answer the door after a few minutes. He looked…horrible. He seemed so tired and Galaxy felt horrible for not sending him a letter. Her scared expression quickly turned into a concerned one as she was about to ask her friend what was troubling him, yet he beat her to the punch.

“Oh. Galaxy. Hey.” His sad smile seemed so very forced. “What are you doing here?” Galaxy’s concern was replaced quickly with the real reason she was there. She would definitely ask him what was wrong later.

“Hawk…I’m in a real difficult situation. I…I have no place to go and I was hoping you could give me a place to stay. Just for a few nights or something. Maybe even make some bits…I’m in need of some to get a place to stay. But…” She gritted her teeth, trying to sound as least bitter and vengeful as she could, “You know how Turquoise Edge feels about me and how I…feel about her.”

Hawk stood quiet, eyes wide. He coughed suddenly, and stepped to the side, motioning his front arm to Galaxy to come inside the house. She stepped through the door, welcomed by complete and utter silence. It was so…quiet. Was Hawk’s family out? Where was everypony?

“Well, Turq seems to fall asleep at the bar and sleep in hotels or outside the bars because she’s so drunk, so I doubt you’d run into her here if you stayed.”

Galaxy tried to keep herself from feeling relief at the killer’s sorrow for her friend’s sake. However, she was confused on why the murderer was going to bars and getting drunk. She wasn’t complaining, yet she was curious.

“So…for old time’s sake, I don’t see why not. But I do have one question, Gal.”

“Yeah?”

“Why do you need a place to stay?”

A lump formed in Galaxy’s throat as she let out a shaky sigh. “I…did something that Firefly didn’t approve of.”

“What did you do?”

“Hawk, I want to tell you, but I don’t want to think about it. Can I tell you later…?” She asked, her voice cracking at the last sentence.

Hawk nodded, continuing to walk towards the kitchen.

“H-how is the family?” Galaxy asked, suddenly intimidated by her best friend. He stopped in his tracks almost immediately.

“My Dad died a month ago. We’re planning the funeral, but it’s been really hard on Turq since she was there when he passed away. Ambi is out with the kids while I’ve been…packing stuff up. I asked to be left alone and Ambi didn’t want to, but I really needed some time to myself. But I doubt you would’ve known about my Dad since when I sent you a letter, I got a very fast response from Princess Firefly herself explaining how you rejected your daughter out of her own home. I was already aware of why you were kicked out and wanted to see if you would be honest, but you shunned Parasite for marrying my niece.”

Silence followed as Galaxy looked at Hawk baffled and stunned. She had no excuses for what she’d done, but she knew in her heart it was the right thing. However, Hawk would never understand because he was the killer’s brother. He would always be on that bitch’s side before her. Just the thought made Galaxy shake with anger once more.

“She was marrying the daughter of a killer!”

“Who is also my sister!” Hawk’s response was immediate just as much as loud. Galaxy was taken by so much surprise at Hawk’s outburst that she almost fell backwards. Despite Hawk’s…opinionated personality at times, he was a kind soul. And he never yelled. He refrained from doing so many times. So to hear him shout so loudly at her of all ponies…wasn’t expected. He sighed in frustration. “I thought…I thought that you’d be better. That you’d show up to the wedding to show you love your daughter…but I was wrong. They saved you a seat, and everything, Gal…” His voice was filled with desperation and sadness. She wasn’t sure how to respond.

“Turquoise Edge murdered my father, Hawk! You know that!”

“It doesn’t matter what my sister did! Holly isn’t Turq! And she’ll never be! She is her own mare who makes her own choices, Gal! Are you so dense as to judge a daughter for her mother’s mistakes?”

“No, I’m smart enough to know that apples don’t fall far from the tree! I was looking out for my daughter, making sure she wasn’t marrying someone dangerous! But as usual, she didn’t listen!”

“If you’re going by that analogy, then Flash Sentry must’ve been a total dick. Because you sure as fuck are.”

Galaxy paused, her breath sucked in with harsh intent. She bowed her head, glaring at the stallion.

“You’re just like your bitch of a sister.”

Hawk sighed in disappointment. “It’s time to end this. How many ponies are going to have to tell you what happened until you see the truth?”

“As many times as it’ll take for me to tell them how that fucking killer murdered my father!” Her scream was deafening in the quiet house as Hawk lifted his hoof in a flinch. She realized her tone, and her body relaxed in silent frustration.

“I thought we were friends. But I guess I couldn’t see who you really were all these years. Please leave.”

“W-what?” Galaxy was taken back by Hawk’s comment.

“I had always held you with such high respect, Galaxy. But enough is enough. If you can’t put your anger aside, I’ll put my family first. I can’t anymore, Galaxy. I can’t be friends with someone who talks so horribly about my sister, who I may not always get along with, but I do love. I can’t be friends with someone who shuns their child and doesn’t even show up to their wedding. I can’t. We were friends once…but not anymore. So please…please, leave.”

Galaxy felt her eyes well up with tears as she grunted in fury, storming out the door. Hawk watched her walk away in silence for the last time.
