I actually tried to word it so as avoid saying ‘fertilizer’ given its unfortunate implications. Looking back, I should just have worked it in as a joke instead to make my point, but still poke fun at my own argument.
In other words it’s a load of manure.
Or a Season Nine episode where Marble Pie resolves her unrequited feelings for Big Mac and maybe find her own special somepony.
Likewise (to be fair I’m more indifferent). It’s just a show after all.

As someone who was a huge MarbleMac shipper, I found this moment in the special really funny and relatable. Lighten up, guys.
Maybe they’ll make a “Best Gift Ever” short that addresses this issue.
…it would have been more in-character since there’s at least one other Hearthswarming between their episode and this one.
Why stop at two? There’s enough Big Mac love for Fluttershy, Cheerilee, Sweetcream, Luna etc.

A jab at shippers would been Marble not caring at all and being happy for them (“it was all in your head, Marble never had feelings for him”).
It might have hurt, but I maintain this was a respectful acknowledgement of continuity.
