We have about 20 years left before the world falls apart
I’ve been predicting since the turn of the Century that we’ve got until ~2035-2040 before China and India go to full scale shooting war over Himalayan water sources, and that’s bound to go nuclear at some point and wellp– it was fun while it lasted.
…No way in hell are all the tires and hoses and belts and gaskets still going to be functional that long after civilization falls; mothertruckers gonna be walkin’ after the Apathyocalypse.
We have about 20 years left before the world falls apart. Some optimists claim we can change it if we act fast but its already too late. Our dependence on fossil fuels will come back to bite us. The economy itself will collapse as we struggle to support our overpopulated masses that can no longer survive because we don’t have our chief power source.
Greed and living in abundance has reaped the world of its precious resources, forever scaring the planet and reducing its ecosystem by more than half its pre-industrial age amount. Very soon, in OUR generation, we will be experiencing irreversible changes to the environment. More and more animals will die as the ever changing climate snaps from arctic winters to desert dry summers. Most species will die off in the first decade as they struggle to adapt quick enough.
Humanity will survive though. We’re stubborn like that. Our advanced brains grant us the power to live in just about any environment given time. We will eventually adapt to this new hellscape, but society as we know it will be gone.
The world won’t end in extravagant fashion. The world will not blow up in a giant fireball like Hollywood might lead you to believe. The world will turn for the worse quietly and all we’ll be doing is wasting time, Tweeting about how its been a little too warm the last couple of weeks and when everyone finally realizes what has happened, they’ll all claim it “snuck up on us.”
Not now, kid. The grown ups are talking.
Our grand internet won’t have children
Our grandchildren won’t have internet.

after 40 years or so this world is going to be like freaking Mad Max
Don’t be ridiculous, that’s never gonna happen.

There’s nothing we can do.
the hour, in fact, is quite here.
