Whhat about an evil person who wants to change their loved one to be more like them? Mind Control opens so many options for that. No, I’m not saying that Glimmer would. Just my own thoughts on your idea.

It is said that one of the clear indications you’re in love is you want to change yourself to be a better person for the one you love.
 
I wish the original evil Starlight (the better Starlight) was the one that managed to reunite with Sunburst. The implications of her creeping on him writes itself. And theres actual believable motivation for why an evil character wants to be a better person.
