My Entry to Miss BritishMindslave’s Contest Featuring Delicate Bloom and Skyward
Skyward trecked through the halls of Canterlot Castle, she had been invited there on account of a rather important commision requested by one of the many high standing nobles residing within its walls. While she couldn’t have been more ecstatic to receive such an honor it had already been a long day and she was looking forward to a well earned rest, once she found her way out that is. The halls had a tendency to being quite labyrinthian in design to one who wasn’t used to traversing them. Honestly the unicorn could have asked the one of the many guards standing vigil for direction but they were on duty and she just couldn’t bring herself to for fear that she would be bothering them. So she was left to her rather troubling predicament, mumbling to herself as if it would help her deduce the way out. That was until she spotted a light yellow coated unicorn down one of the halls. Skyward hesitated as the mare looked busy with a trolly of tea but her tired legs made the decision for her. “Excuse me Mademoiselle?” Skyward asked, trotting towards the mare at a reasonable pace “I’m ever so sorry to trouble you but you wouldn’t happen to know how to reach the main gate from here?” The unicorn looked up from her cart with a warm smile “Don’t worry dear you’re fine, it’s three corridors down then a right. Keep going for three more and then a left.” Skyward blinked she was never all that good with directions “I’m headed that way now actually,” The mare continued “I could walk you there if you would like” Dipping her head in relief Skyward agreed gratefully “Thank you Miss I would really appreciate it.” Needless to say the two got to chatting only to find that they both had ties to Neighagra Falls the mare, who had introduced herself as Delicate Bloom, having grown up there and Skyward having it be one of the places she had recently taken a workshop at. The mares soon began to laugh over their stories of the place and all of the fun times they had spent there. Before either of them knew it they had arrived at the gates Skyward was about to thank Delicate Bloom for all of her help when the mare spoke up “You know I normally have tea parties with the royal guards to get them to take a break from training” She said gesturing to her cart “but it seems as if everyone was busy today with two of the dutchess from Great Hoofington paying a visit. Would you happen to have the time to come with me to the gardens for one? You seem like a wonderful mare and I would love to get to know you better” Skyward grinned “Of course! It would be my honor” That well earned rest could wait.
Right off of the bat I wanted to thank Mr. Agamnentzar for all of his amazing advice regarding colored pencils, this work couldn’t have been completed without him. If you haven’t already you should really consider check out his work, it’s absolutely astonishing what this man can do with a colored pencil. Now on to the piece itself my Celestia is Miss Delicate Bloom a beautifully designed pony. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to draw you lovely OC as it’s rare I see one like her. She was a joy to draw and as soon as I read the bit about tea parties she would host for the royal guards this scene popped into my head. Several composition sketches later I finally had settled on this one and the rest is history. It’s going to be very exciting to see who wins this contest as from what I’ve seen so far the entries are all breathtaking. I do sincerely hope you like it Miss BritishMindslave and good luck everyone!

On a side note I am thinking of changing Skyward’s name and cutie mark a bit to fit her special talent a bit more. Perhaps Skyward Stroke? Let me know if you have any suggestions down in the comments below. Thank you all for your time and have a lovely day!
