Ratcliffe: Well done, Thomas. You did as I told. Have you shoot any Indians?
Thomas: Yes, sir. But John has been captured by the Indians. I had to save one of his friends from getting sacrificed.
Ben: But where they take him?
Thomas: They were heading north.
Fluttershy: Wait, you were told to do this? That’s why you followed us to the Glade and shot Kocoum. But you did it to save me and my friends. I forgive you.
Ratcliffe: What?! Thomas, were you mad?! if I didn’t know better, I think you were too soft!
Fluttershy: At least he’s not selfish, greedy, or cruel like you! You may be a man of justice, but you don’t even know how to live your life! As much as many people will die because of you, because you made things more miserable for both sides and all our lives that only you don’t give a flying feather about!
Ratcliffe: Enough! I make the laws, now! You men, take this young lady away and tie her up! And you, Thomas. You’re lucky that I’ll give one final chance to prove yourself!
Ben: (tying Fluttershy) We’re very sorry about this, lass.
Lon: We don’t have much of a choice.
What Fluttershy said made the settlers gasp in shock a bit. Because nobody had ever talked that way back to Ratcliffe before, even right in his face. He was dangerously stubborn and would be abusive if he had to.
