F**k
It’s disappointing that she wasn’t able to craft the show into her vision, and doubly so that bronies seem to be rejecting her for feeling this way.
It’s like starting a book with a envisioned plotline and everything but then someone else finishing it, it could be awesome but it stopped being what it was supposed to be it’s a (nonintentioned) mockery of what you wanted at least that’s how I would feel :T
First season: great. You may like or not like certain episodes, but they all were more than acceptable. Bad premiere. Some “meh” episodes. Good finale.
Secod season: quite good. Very good premiere. Aside from some “meh” episodes, we get some “stupid” episodes (like the CMC love potion one). Finale was a Disney mini-movie. A good one, but a Disney movie, not an FiM episode.
Third season: LOATHSOME premiere. So-so beginning, but suddenly gets much, much better. I am confuss.
It’s a shame she doesn’t feel good about it. I can see where she’s coming from, but if I were her I’d be proud of my creation making it as far as it has. Before G4, anything mlp-related was pretty much instantly dead in the water.
Okay, Lauren.
I have no problem if she doesn’t want to watch a show that deviates so significantly from that. For her to leave, it would have to be significantly different, because I’m sure she’s savvy enough about the industry to know that some things would change.
It’s just an unfortunate situation for her. I hope it doesn’t bother her too much.
didn’tmade a terrible call here in taking the show in a different direction.First off, I’d like to say that the show probably isn’t all too different. When you listen to Jayson Thiessen, he says that they try to follow Lauren’s ideas as much as possible. And the universe and characters’ personality (for the most part) were conceived by Lauren.
Second, I have enjoyed the later episodes more, but not necessarily Season 3. I’d say the time I was most excited about episodes came between S1: Episode 15 (Feeling Pinkie Keen) - S2: Episode 22 (Hurricane Fluttershy). Lauren Faust was still involved with the episodes earlier in that time frame, but probably had little to nothing to do with the episodes at the end of that time frame.
Third, I still enjoyed the episodes before this time frame (the pilot through Suited for Success) and the ones after this time frame (Ponyville Confidential through
Racist BarnApple Family Reunion) in fact, the episodes that I ended up disliking came during that middle time frame. I didn’t dislike a lot of the episodes at the beginning or for Season 3 so far, but I haven’t loved many of them either.I’d attribute that to the show creators beginning to learn about the universe and how to make a show as a team (being a con) and having Lauren Faust provide direct input as to what the show should be (being a pro) for the first part of the show, and potentially not having Lauren’s input or seeing to Hasbro’s needs for episode content (being a con) and the show creators being more experienced with Lauren’s universe (being a pro.)
I think the show has changed some, but I don’t think it’s gotten overall worse. On the whole, (like others have said in fewer words,) I think it’s gotten better. Lauren might have had other ideas, and they may have made FiM to be even better than what it was. But considering that I still like the show as much (if not more) than what I first did, I can’t say Hasbro didn’t make a terrible call here in taking the show in a different direction.
I feel sad that she felt she had to leave, but imo the show isn’t any worse off after her departure.
This conflict might explain Faust’s mysterious departure from a show she was very enthusiastic about; Hasbro got rid of her for cheaper, more pliant people.
In case of Victory Tomino actually wanted to get it cancelled, because he was mad about producers not giving him enough input. Or something.
Wasn’t the changes done due to that she wasn’t allowed to use any if the G1 carnations except for Applejack?
Admittedly, some of the changes of the series they did from her original ideas do seem to be for the “better.”
Like I kinda prefer it they changed Fire Flye into Rainbow Dash personally. The rainbow hair seems cooler, and we wouldn’t have the “Sonic Rainboom.”
(And it’d be a bit odd to have 2 pink ponies on the team like her original idea was to have with Twilight and Fire Flye. The final dedigns seems more colorful.)
