Thank Celestia for Discord, Twilight thought. Had he not tracked down the Elements of Harmony’s magic censor, they wouldn’t know where to go. They walked into the Castle of the Two Sisters, uncertain of what to expect. They reached a room, where a voice boomed loudly.
“Greetings, Bearers of the Elements of Harmony!” The voice was obviously from a female, and as the six mares turned towards the voice, they met a hooded figure. Twilight noticed paws in the front, hooves in the back as hind legs. Her eyes dragged up to the stranger’s. Blood red. The figure smiled, showing off sharp teeth.
“Who are you?” Twilight asked, as she walked forward with her friends.
“My identity is not important. Though I have what you seek.” There was a quiet, as the mares awaited more answer from the stranger. “The Elements of Harmony.” The voice groaned. “I believe I made it obvious when you walked in and I announced who you were.” Her voice sounded oddly mature and calm, yet….fancy?
“Indeed, fancy. I was raised by a unicorn who came from Canterlot.”
“You haven’t answered my question.” Twilight asked, taken back by the response of the stranger. Did she know what she was thinking?
“Yes I do. And I haven’t answered your question because your question is inconsequential. What matters here is what I have to tell you about YOU.”
“About us? What do you mean?” Twilight asked, confused.
“Bearer of Magic.” The voice sounded oddly raspy but smooth at the same time. “Am I right in saying you’re having….difficulties in conceiving a child with the Bearer of Laughter?” There was a grin as Twilight’s scowl deepened.
“What is it to you?” Twilight asked, sudden hatred in her voice.
“I give you the ability to bear and give children through your spells. However, you must continue to have children until you reach an alicorn.”
“What? Why?” Twilight blinked, her head shaking.
“I wish for you to have a successor. That alicorn will live forever, watching everyone around her die slowly.” The stranger said it with a smile, and behind the other five mares, Pinkie Pie’s hair fell.
“I will not do that to a child!”
“You will do it, or any other children you have before her or after her will die. And your brother, along with his wife and child. Now your parents can live. But….not them.” Silence rung in the room. “I’m still giving you the curse to have the ability to have children! And accidents DO happen, don’t they? Though, they’re are other ways of sexual pleasure-”
“You’re sick!” Rainbow Dash yelled.
“You will NOT interrupt me while I am speaking, Bearer of Loyalty!” There was a sigh. “I was simply going to say, a child you have will be blind, so you must have more than one….but I believe I’ll switch your curse with the Bearer of Honesty.”
“What?!” Applejack and Rainbow Dash yelled in unison, there was another loud thump on the floor.
“YOU WILL NOT INTERRUPT ME OR YOU AND EVERYONE YOU CARE ABOUT WILL DIE A SLOW PAINFUL DEATH!” A cough. And then a sigh. “I apologize. That wasn’t very professional of me. But please, do refrain from the outbursts. As I was saying, Bearer of Honesty. You will marry a sister of the Bearer of Laughter’s family thanks to that….hilariously stupid choosing stone. You will live your days in a forced marriage, and you will have four children in total. One will be blind, of my choosing. If you do not fulfill my request, all the children will die along with your family. Ginger Gold, your daughter. Your husband. Dear Apple Bloom and Big Mac. They’ve just barely began on starting their lives. Do as my curse says, or face the consequences.” Applejack glared.
“What if she says no?” Rainbow Dash spoke up once more.
“Ah yes, back to you, Bearer of Loyalty. You are not deaf, you heard what would happen if she refuses. But as for your curse….I will take one of your children at birth. Of my choosing. And similar to the Bearer of Magic-
Accidents happen. And you….I sense there is one family member you care for. Scootaloo, is it? I will make her death long and painful-”
“Don’t you touch Scootaloo!” There was a flash, a sound of choking, and a thump on the ground.
“Rainbow!” The other five ponies yelled, rushing to their fallen friend. Her hooves reached to her throat.
“WHAT did I say about interrupting me?” The female spoke, calmly, but with an edge to her voice. Fluttershy looked up, horrified.
“Please! Please stop! Please, we’ll do what you say!”
“I’m afraid you, Bearer of Kindness, don’t have much of a say as the others. But…if the Bearer of Loyalty promises she’ll apologize, I’ll set her free.” There was a malicious grin in the rarely seen light that shown on the figure’s face. Rainbow Dash glared in pain.
“Rainbow, please.” Fluttershy begged. “Please, just….just nod!” Seconds passed as if Rainbow Dash was questioning whether to give up over something as simple as a yes or no. Eventually, she nodded her head, unable to take more pain. There was a loud snap, and Rainbow Dash gasped for air.
“I believe you owe me an apology, Bearer of Loyalty?” The voice said, with a mocking tone. Rainbow Dash scowled at the stranger, speaking her next words with obvious spite.
“I apologize.” There was another moment of silence before the figure spoke once more.
“Right! Well, now the Bearers of Loyalty, Honesty, and Magic are aware of the curses I have placed upon them. Though I think it could be safe to say that the Bearer of Laughter is as well, as she is wed to the Bearer of Magic.”
“Why are you doing this?” Fluttershy spoke up, genuinely.
“Ah, right. The Bearer of Kindness. You were next. You will never be able to have children.” The voice spoke bluntly and simply.
“W-what?” Fluttershy said, horror accumulating on her face.
“Your curse. You will never birth a foal. Plain and simple.” They all stood in shocked silence, before Rarity spoke up.
“B-but….that’s barbaric!”
“Is it? I apologize, Bearer of Generosity. Do you wish to know your curse?” The stranger was not met with a response in words, but of a stare. Rarity was uncertain, and frankly terrified. She was last. “I’ll take that as a yes. In my opinion? Yours is the least worse. You will always have twins. No single children will be birthed from you.”
“W-what?” Rarity was shocked. That seemed so simple and easy.
“It does seem simple an easy, huh? But….like most so far….there is a catch. You must have four in totally. Well, technically 5. You will lose a foal.” Rarity was unsure of how to response, so she stared in shock at the hooded figure. “You see, like the Bearer of Magic, if you don’t have these children, your family will die. But….mostly just Sweetie Belle. Yes. Just Sweetie Belle and whomever is in her life right now. Any child you have before the unfortunate fated twin, will die. But you must have 5 children in total. All birthed from you. Difference is with the Bearer of Magic, her child will be immortal, one of yours will die. And if I were you? I’d get the surgery. You’re not exactly, the tallest in build for bearing twins, I would say.” They all stood quietly, waiting. “Just in case you’re wondering….your curses weren’t coincidences. I chose each of your curses based upon stories I’ve heard of you. The Bearer of Magic is a princess, she wanted an heir. The Bearer of Laughter always wished to have many children. The Bearer of Loyalty wanted a child to carry on her legacy. The Bearer of Honesty wanted a child to be appreciative of what they had and to find chosen love by fate, like her parents. The Bearer of Kindness always wished to help foals, not have them. She seemed more intent on helping animals instead of finding love. And the Bearer of Generosity….you wished to have two children just in case one did not wish to carry on the family business. I know your minds, and I have a skill. Your curses aren’t by chance. They are, well….curses.”
“Why?” Twilight spoke, on the verge of breaking down, trying desperately to hold up a strong front.”
“Why does it matter? My reasons shouldn’t concern you. What you are to do with yourselves after this….that’s what should worry you.” There was another pause, and the stranger’s smile softened slightly. “None of you have a choice here. Do as I have cursed you to do, or innocent lives will be at cost, along with Equestria’s most powerful protectors-
The Elements of Harmony. I will give you back your precious Elements and you can go about doing as I have tasked you to do. Now….do we have a deal?” Quiet rung amongst the ponies and the stranger. She laughed, quite chaotically. “Very good! Now, ta-ta!” There was a flash, and the box containing the most powerful gems laid before the six ponies. But yet….no one said a word. The thought of their curse on themselves and their children would plague their mind for years.
