I’ve banned on Danbooru for like 7 days and Gelbooru is OP

Indeed, Danbooru is what started the “booru” (linear imageboard) thing. I remember back in the lesser decade that was the 2000s when imageboards that went beyond the “Futaba” model and were more archive-oriented were being experimented on by channers. From that, Danbooru came out and blew up. Its modern codebase is Rails-based (like our codebase here), but I think it was originally PHP-based like Shimmie is now. Things would be different for this site, provided it even existed, had Danbooru never came about. This site is called a “Danbooru-style” imageboard in the Wikipedia article.(Imageboards)

I didn’t know it was the first booru.

I love looking at the archives and early pictures on Danbooru. You can tell the designers had no intention for it to become a porn board, and the design of the site itself still leans in its original direction.
 
Still, they still let people post awesome and funny pics, so hope still lives for that father of boorus. Unlike Gelbooru. Which is kind of the Sodom and Gomorrah of boorus. XD
