Been several months since I added anything the United Ponies of America series. Arizona is up next. I’ve had the pleasure of actually visiting this state when I was a kid and yeah there is alot of desert. Saw one of the best natural wonders there (take a wild guess lol) and got to see the 4 corners area and the Hoover Dam when crossing into Nevada. My family was taking a long road trip at the time when I was 9 (and we lived in Colorado at the time).

Copper Canyon is based of most famous thing about the state, the Grand Canyon. It is represented as his cutie mark. Arizona is also known as the copper state. So the coat is based off of the two different colors of this mineral. FYI, copper turns green when it’s oxidized so that’s where the green comes from. The mane and tail I did derive from the canyon also. Because this state is also rich in Native American culture, I wanted to add a headband to him.

Sonora Aire is a cool looking mare. I don’t always do short-length manes for females but I felt it suit her and it looks cute. Her name is is based off the Sonoran Desert that can be found in Arizona and her cutie mark is that of a cactus and flower found in the area. Aire is Spanish for Air. Her coat is based around the desert colors, and the mane and tell are reflective of flower petals.

I do hope I did a good job representing this state. Color scheme wise, this might be my favorite so far.
