At first I was mixed about Spike being a dog instead of human in EQG.  
But honestly getting more bitter and bitter about that fact..

Regardless, there were times throughout those seasons where Spike was treated with respect, or as the voice of reason, and such.  
Even in episodes like “Spike at your service,” he wasn’t a complete “idiot” like some claim, in the beginning of the episode and ending he was actually more competent, before he started screwed things up. (Which came about because he was trying too hard to impress AJ, and such making him overreact, and overdo things. Spike’s not perfect, he does screw up, or overdo things sometimes.)  
And other times he still helped save the day, and such.
 
Not to mention, he’s not the only character prone to slapstick, or humorous moments. Arguably, Twilight, Pinkie, AJ, Rainbow Dash got it more then him in quite a few episodes actually.

No I haven’t seen it, I’m kinda behind on Season 8. Maybe you’re overreacting a bit though, no offense.  
Though, I admit the ladybugs gag was a bit much, even if it was a li’l amusing. (Yet, let’s not forget… This is the pony that fears quesadillas, so it might not be too out there for her. The girl has issues.)

Would you be at peak mental acuity after being awake for 36 hours? I sure wouldn’t. And Twilight’s demonstrated poor thinking after all-nighters more than once. Dragons have scales and breathe fire so it’s not impossible to believe she assumed he’d be fine.
 
You would call anything less than Spike retaliating for the rare occasions he’s treated like a butt monkey terrible and idiotic writing. That’s called bias.

Spike episodes suck mostly because he’s a hard character to focus on independent of Twilight. It tends to focus on the great greed of dragons which makes him out like a little jerk.
 
Spike is at his best when he’s keeping Twilight in check.

Twilight used to treat him like her manservant a lot, but that’s going back a long way at this point. Rarity treats him like a slave sometimes, but then he’s willing. Aside from that they all treat him like a little brother.

I think it mostly stems from mid show (S3-5) where his eps were crap and he seemed to get a lot of slapstick. Way more in proportion to how much wholesome, positive content he recieved.

Not to mention, he got his wings recently, and such. I don’t know why some fans make-believe that Twilight & such are nasty to him, when she treats him practically like her little brother, or even her son sometimes. Even in puppy form, Twilight loves him. (To the point, just seeing those sad puppy eyes almost snapped her out of her evil super form Midnight Sparkle.)

In what way is being represented as Twilight’s most faithful and loyal companion treating him like a second class citizen? I’m afraid I don’t understand why he needs to be a human to be represented fairly.

Umm… They didn’t turn Applejack into a hooker. They turned her into a clown. X3. Also, that guy is a entirely different character.

Hey, I like Spike. …But i admit, some Spike fans are rather over-protective, even more then Fluttershy fans are stereotyped to be.

What would even be the point of turning Spike into a human now, if he’s just gonna get cucked by boy-AJ?
