Not quite. The body remains buoyant, but the surrounding sand clings more and creates suction that makes it more difficult to be pulled out, even though you don’t get sucked downward.

I thought of another way the quicksand scene could have gone.
 
When Sunset and Twilight find Rainbow, they try to help her out, but are accidentally pulled in. All three girls are now stuck in the quicksand, and a brief argument ensues, with Rainbow eventually apologizing. Suddenly they all start getting sucked down. Sunset finally recognizes the Equestrian magic, and tells the girls “See you soon” before forcing herself under. Both in shock, Rainbow is then sucked under, and then Twilight.
 
And then they come to in Equestria as ponies.

I thought it was too, and believe me, I wish it was, but when we saw more bubbles, it turned out they came from the portal to Equestria.

Rainbow, you’re sinking into quicksand while whining like a little b&&&h and you could’ve possibly end up as a rotting skeleton with a rainbow afro, and nobody else would be around to know about your whereabouts!! I HARDLY believe what you’re doing is HARD WORK!!!
 
Twilight: “Did you FIND ANY??!!”
 
Rainbow: “Naaahhh, just quicksand…”
