“With golden string
Our universe was clothed in light
Pulling at the seems
Our once barren world now brims with life”
~ Sleeping At Last

The sun shone bright on a cool day in Ponyville, bringing down it’s rays of light onto the ponies who lived there. Smiles and laughter could be heard from a distance, following some conversations about their lives. Nothing special was happening in particular, just a nice cool day. There was nothing more to do than sit and watch the clouds, or just hangout with some friends.

Unless you were Golden Daze.

The golden Pegasus zoomed across the sky, showing her bright array of colors that followed her as she flew. She was gliding like a natural, like she was born to fly. She had solid control of her wings as she zipped by the ponies who were minding their own business. Daze was just doing what she always does, practicing before a big meet. No pony bat an eye at her, as she flew dangerously close to them. It was a normal day.

On the other hoof, a brown earth pony was seen carrying a cart of red fruits on her back, just trailing through the Ponyville streets. The mare seemed tired, but hopeful to get some sales done. She needed the money for her family, as they were running low on cleaning supplies. So, the mare found a good spot to settle down and make a quick buck, setting up her fruit stand. She slowly placed the freshly grown grapes, strawberries, and apples onto the table, then she set up the prices for each fruit.

“Fruits for sale! Come get ‘ur quality grown family fruits! Fresh an’ ready to go!” the mare shouted, trying to get some pony’s attention. ‘Course no pony seemed to look her direction at first, but she wasn’t going to give up.

Suddenly the sun shown right on her stand, creating a bright ray of sunlight right onto the juicy wet fruits. “That’ll do it.” She then opened her mouth to speak again, “Get ‘ur fruits here! They’ll brighten’ ‘ur day!” Finally, a group of ponies surrounded her stand, making her smile for once and giving everypony quality service.

As the mare was collecting some bits, the Pegasus flew right past the stand, creating a couple of fruits to hit the ground from the sudden burst of air. Daze noticed this sudden movement, which caught her off guard, and she flew back to the ground and landed softly. She then trotted over to the stand, getting ready to give a fat apology to the mare selling the fruits.

“Hey, I’m so~~” Daze was cut off by the mare’s quick harsh voice as she was trying to pick up the fallen fruit.

“Get ‘ur hooves off mah fruit, ya’ hear? Ah didn’t ask for help!”

Daze glanced up and looked at the farm horse, her golden eyes looking straight into hostility. “Woah, now. Don’t get your tongue in a twist. I just wanted to help you.”

The mad mare looked straight into Daze’s eyes, causing her heartbeat to stop. “Ah~~”

“You didn’t need to get all mad at me. I did nothing to you.” Daze hissed. “Well kinda, but I’m trying to fix it.” The Pegasus huffed, rolling her eyes at the country pony. “Want help or not?”

“Ye-ah,” the mare finally budged, stepping back and letting the Pegasus clean up the mess. All her customers were gone by now, probably off buying other things that they needed. Hopefully her business wasn’t wrecked by this Pegasus. She could feel her forehead start to sweat though. Honestly, she’d never seen a pony so gorgeous in her life. The golden mare was making her nervous, and she couldn’t stop staring. She really couldn’t stop staring.

“Wha-t?” Daze asked, her raspy voice cracking as she looked back at the earth pony. The mare’s stares made Daze smirk a bit. “I helped you, so you can’t be mad at me anymore.” The earth pony blinked, about to say something, then Daze continued, “Y’know, I swear I’ve seen you before..” Daze flew into the air and went around the very short pony, making her uncomfortable.

“Well, you don’t look familiar to me at all, so bug off,” the mare snapped, breaking out of her trance and walking closer to her fruit stand. “There’s a million other brown ponies around, anyhow. I ain’t no different from other

Daze thought for a second, remembering something, “Woah! You’re Alizarin Fruits right?” The mare then zoomed past Ali and landed right in front of her with a huge grin on her face. It set Ali back a little. Daze towered over Ali like a skyscraper.

“Ye-ah, why?” Ali answered, her grumpy nature taking over her voice.

“I know your dad, Vermilion? He helped me with my garden when I first moved here, most generous pony I’ve ever met. Ha. He said he had a daughter, but I never saw her. Talked about her a lot. You look a lot like him, actually.”

Ali tilted her head in confusion, she never remembered her dad talking about helping a golden Pegasus with a garden job. “Ah- he never mentioned a Pegasus.”

“Well, it was a long time ago, back when I was still a struggling teen,” Daze responded, looking at Ali with a keen eye. “If you’re wondering how I remember him, I got a great memory, not to brag or anything. Ha.”

Ali’s heart was racing, feeling a strange tingle every time Daze looked at her. She’s never been this nervous around anypony. Ever.

On Daze’s case, she found Ali rather cute. The sunny Pegasus liked the look of ruggedness. Her country accent helped with that too. Daze could probably listen to it all day long. It was kinda like a soft tune, but still harsh. It was intriguing the curious Pegasus.

“My name is Golden Daze, by the way. But call me Daze, I fuckin’ hate being called Golden.”

“Alright, Golden,” the earth pony responded, being rather brash again. “Can you please leave me be now? I’m tired of ‘ur presence.” Honestly, Ali wasn’t tired of it, she was just scared of liking the mare too much. She wasn’t one for feelings. Too bad Daze was really good at reading pony’s emotions.

“It’s Daze”, the Pegasus responded nicely, another grin on her face to keep a positive light. “I’ll leave you be then, here’s my mail address if you ever wanna hookup,” Daze said, with a huge smirk on her face. A wink followed afterwards, as she wrote down her address on the mare’s fruit stand. She then blasted off into the sky, leaving the farm horse’s mouth wide open. From a distance there was a raspy voice saying, “Better close your mouth before a fly flies in!”

As the Pegasus left, Ali was met with more ponies looking to buy fruits, but also a frazzled heart.

The sun soon was blocked by a cloud, leaving Ali in a shadow.
