…and that’s why I have autocorrect turned off. I hate that shit. it really screws with what I want to type. for example, whenever I type “its,” it would spell it as “it’s” instead. >:/
good.
Your spelling hurts me
@That Little Faggot with the Earring and the Makeup
Hey no fighting here. Things are calm don’t start anything else up please.
i gave that up months ago. cuz your arguments are always stupid and you never actully take in anything that didn’t coralate to them or you’d fuck off once somebody got the better of you.
so again shut up.
Edited
is that all? I was expecting a better counterargument than that.
oh well. ¯\_( :/ )_/¯
shut up, ryan.
I am just done with you.
I am starting to think you’re not even a nyx fan, just someone who was sent to make us look bad.
I won’t waste anymore time with you.
…i feel like I should, but honestly I’m too burned out. Derpibooru in general has just getting a bit overwhelming for me lately.
Edited
If you wish to, sure. I’m not sure I’ve got much more to say, but I’ll wait for you to add whatever else you’ve got to add and then I’ll see.
I’m with you, but my point is that even if they weren’t undone when the timeline was fixed, their creation was clearly accidental.
@Alexlayer
I was actually talking about Sombra there (you did say “all villains”, so I figure you meant all villains). I’ll admit I probably should have specified since I had been talking about Tempest before that. (Though I suppose this inadvertently highlights that Tempy got to walk away after doing damn near the same thing that Sombra was killed for.)
@Alexlayer
I never said they didn’t fumble Starlight’s writing during S6. My disagreement with you in this regard is on what would have been a better way to handle her.
@Alexlayer
@Alexlayer
Well, it’s actually been pretty civil so far, so we might as well continue. But for now I need to sleep, so I’ll try to circle back and address your other stuff later, if that’s all right with you?
The reason I bring all this up is because a lot of the Starlight haters use what happened in the S5 final is proof of how irredeemable she is. As I’ve argued on the basis of what’s presented in the two-parter, we’re most-likely seeing a multi-universe causality-light interpretation of time-travel, meaning that not only is Starlight not responsible for the bad outcomes, but could not foresee in any way how any of them would turn out. If you want to argue that causality is present, then that just means at the end that none of the bad timelines actually happened because the cause of them was undone (like in the two-part season 2 final for the Orville).
In closing, trying to bash Starlight for what happened in the S5 finale is retarded because either A) the stuff we saw was going to happen anyway and Starlight couldn’t have foreseen the consequences, or B) the stuff we saw did happen, but was undone at the end due to causality.
That is kind of what I was aiming for.
Hey, at least Scrounge gives me a rational conversation, which is more than what I can say for most Starlight defenders.
@Scrounge
Like I said, I’m not really here to compare the two. I’m no big fan of Miss Fizzlepop Berrytwist either, but at least with her, once she was done, she was gone, and I didn’t have to deal with her anymore like with Starlight.
I mean, yeah, but you just reinforced my argument about how Starlight’s writing was a mess. Season 6 kept doing this weird thing where they basically wanted to pretend Starlight didn’t exist unless the episode was about her, except for… two exceptions, I think? But I think she didn’t even talk in those. Suffice to say, it certainly didn’t help to ease her into the audience if you ask me. It just made the idea that she was friends with anyone but Twilight (or her own new circle of friends) seem but a cheap lie.
Eh, if you don’t want to go further, that’s fine. I don’t wanna push you into an uncomfortable argument either (also, I read this half of the paragraph AFTER I wrote the part of my reply above. Sorry, my work methods are kinda weird ^^U)
@Scrounge
OK, yeah, I’ll give you that one.
Huh. I have never seen that word before, but fair enough, my bad on that one.
As for the rest, though, I can’t say I’m with you. Yeah, the cult thing was bad, but it wasn’t on the level of, say, enslaving an entire country and intentionally giving the entire populace PTSD. And I’d argue that the problem with her afterwards was less when she was present than when she wasn’t, and having her just be around because she’s friends with the Mane Six would have gone a long way. Etc. for several of the other things, but I don’t feel like there’s any point in goin any further, you said a lot of things, and responding to them all would be a lot of typing for no reason, because your mind’s made up already. If you want to talk about it, fine, but I’m worn out after dealing with the Lightning Dust fan club earlier today and don’t feel like arguing.
Though I do think you’re giving whoever made this pic too much credit.
@Alexlayer
The movie is mediocre on its own merits, but in the broader context of G4 as a whole I can’t help but feel like it’s the point at which the wheels came off the wagon.
@Angrybrony
She’s right below Lightning Dust as far as I’m concerned. :P
You do know you’re not going to accomplish anything right?
yeah. and she’s a fuckin’ good horse too.
She’s an edgelord!
Shadow Tempest’s redemption was good and tempest is a good horse.
Oh, and also: Yeah, Shadow Tempest’s redemption was bullshit too, but by that point, I’d given up. It was something that you could tell from just watching the trailers, really, so I was resigned by that point since I saw it coming from a mile away. And honestly, animation aside, the entirety of the MLP movie was outright mediocre, so it really just evokes feelings of apathy from me.
I was being far more generic when I said “undefendable” (And no, that’s actually not misspelled) than just referring to the incidents from “The Cutie Re-Mark”. I mean, look, even I will admit that at this point in the series, Starlight is no longer a problem (at least, I’m hoping it stays so), but let’s not pretend her entire writing since her introduction hasn’t been a mess.
Most rushed and poorly written redemption in the whole show yet (and after displaying some of the more atrocious behavior of all villains, if you ask me), followed by most of her subsequent appearances doing some or other thing that was outrageous and would still get easily forgiven for it (the worst case being “Every Little Thing She Does”), and the show doing stuff like forcefully writing the Mane Six into hostage situation to give Starlight a chance to be the hero, or shoehorning her into stories she outright didn’t need to be at.
Not to mention, I honestly can’t help but to feel that the decision to keep Chrysalis and Cozy Glow unreformed was largely influenced by how poorly Starlight’s redemption was received, to the point the writers went “Okay, maybe let’s not do that again, and have one villain that stays unrepentant, and one that the Mane Six will actually punish for their crimes”, the first one being Chrysalis and the later being Cozy, and… I’m sorry, but the fact that Twilight would forgive Starlight for all of her deeds and even give her a privileged position as her personal pupil and a luxurious place to live at, but would also condemn a literal child to outright Tartarus is nothing short of BULLSHIT in terms of writing. I mean, send Cozy to a correctional facility, FINE! Sometimes when a child is like that, you gotta take such measures, but Tartarus?
This is what I believe this pic is really about. Not about Starlight’s actions individually, but as for the writing as a whole, which is, again, outright undefendable at times like this.
This.
Any changes Starlight made to history beyond causing the Mane Six not to connect were unintentional; she wasn’t even aware of them until Twilight dragged her into the las Bad Future, and even then it took her a bit to get over the shock and stop being in denial. She gave up and surrendered when she was literally an inch from her revenge because she knew it was the wrong thing to do, and hurting Twilight wasn’t worth the harm to the rest of Equestria.
If you want “undefendable” (the actual word is indefensible, btw), try Tempest, who knowingly and without regret sold out the entirety of Equestria over a flesh wound. She only changed her tune after the Storm King welched on his end of the deal just because he could and Twilight saved her ass even though she clearly didn’t deserve it. In other words, she only switched sides because it was in her own best interest.
