tfw I just want to see street cars painted red and black again.
no-no… if anything, Starlight’s ideology and village is based on what Americans during Cold war believed communism and socialism to be like. The “red scare”, the “commies”, all that stuff.
Here I’m gonna steal and quote a nice post from reddit:

It’s suprising how much she mirrored jim jones, the deluded preacher who hoodwinked his flock with promises of a communistic paradise only to be investigated for human rights abuse by a senator who jones procceeded to assassinate as the poor guy was leaving jones town with his findings.
Of course, Starlights situation had a better ending. And Twilight was Imprisoned rather than assassinated but the parallels are striking enough that it’s clear where the writers got some of their inspiration.

B-but she said “Equality” a bunch!
She made a manifesto
I think she was at least BASED on communism

Communist anthem intensifies
I saw this coming, why did I comment,
I SAW THIS COMING, WHY DID I COMMENT
yep, that would be pretty capitalistic of her.
I lived in a communist country, and we pretty much had a lot of comedians, performers and illusionists here, with no problems or persecutions.
She’d probably only really by against this principle if she hires and pays a wage to other ponies, keeping the profits.
But she’s using her talent and gets paid for it. As in “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs”. This in no way goes against the communist principles.
Trixie’s to cool for communism.
You may know it as the crescent-and-star(s).
