“our votes being essentially useless When there’s more seats for a city than a nation”
Population
All of Scotland: “5,350,000”(Somewhat generous estimate)
Greater London: “8,400,000”(Low estimate)
Gee, I wonder why they have more seats.
+50 Seats… That’s impressive… Even if it pales with the Conservatives & Labor.
Evidence for it…Thatcher, Trident nuclear missiles we do not want on our land and will never be used, being told you’re too dumb as a nation to take care of yourself, our votes being essentially useless When there’s more seats for a city than a nation, an ever gradually privatised health service which we do not want, being kicked out of the EU by England when we will
and there’s no point in denying itvote to stay in. These are only a few of the reasonsMore of a when from my perspective
being a pro-Europe, pro-Scottish Independence guy. The one time deal thing is just westminster trying to make sure that we don’t try it again relatively soon…which has had the exact opposite effect because the persuit of indipendece has made the SNPa clear pro-independence party, the third biggest party in the UK. It doesn’t really help their case when the media uses the line “the threat of Scotland being in power” as if to say England is going to be governed by us. It’s just two different worlds now. And all the parties in the UK are rejecting the Scottish people’s democratic vote for whomever they like, which I can hardly see they Union surviving through.I’ll believe it if/when it ever happens… TBH… Though I can’t seem to find any, concrete evidence for it. I thought the last Referendum was supposed to a One time deal.
@Ichijoe
Found this on facebook lol it sums up the feelings of a large group of in Scotland right
[spoilered as its politcial, duh]
The E.U. was a nice idea, and like so many things it has its good points… The Euro however, wasn’t One of these! And, I pray for the day when we return to the D-Mark!
I belive the line we are looking for here is “hell hath no fury like nation scorned”. Although you say the referendum was a defeat, that doesn’t mean that all those yes voters withered away and died, quite the opposite actually. Eventually we are going to leave the UK - more peacefully than the Irish revolt just under a hundred years ago though, it’s just a matter of when now. No doubt if UKIP and the Conservatives have a coalition then Scotland is going to keep its finger on eject constantly. Scotland is a pro-EU nation, and does not want to be taken out of the EU by people down South, at which point we’ll abandon the soon to be wreck of the UK.
It’s better than scottish labour…that’s just a total farce. Conservatives are a no-go in Scotland and the lib dems lost a seat with every sorry Nick Clegg made. SNP are actually one of only three parties in the UK that are actually talking sense. To question the seriousness of the SNP based on their role in the referendum is stupid. They won an outright majority in the Scottish Parliament in 2011 on a voting system designed not to have that without a large number of MSP’s.
Overall this mocking of the SNP is actually just people living in the past and sticking with the old parties which are only in it for themselves and for their rich friends. If you don’t adapt to change, you die out
You mean how the vote come quite close to a victory for them and the mainstream British parties realized in the last month “Oh shit, we are losing this very badly in preliminary polls. Maybe we shouldn’t have sat on our asses for years in the lead-up thinking accountability to the voters is for dorks.”?
so not taking them seriously would be very dangerous thing to do.
