Just a daily reminder of writers’ stupidity
Strictly speaking, the mythological ophiotaurus wasn’t feared because of any power it itself possessed – the idea was that whoever slew it and sacrificed its entrails would gain the power to defeat the gods, so the gods came very close to losing their war against the titans when one of the latter was about to do so.
I actually forgot he could absorb anyone’s magic for a second, but yeah, I guess he could have done that.

That’s pretty much the thing. Oldschool Tirek even if he was weak would have just absorbed that thing’s magic. And it pretty much incapacitates whatever he’s doing it to, if he’s actually trying (unlike where he was just trying to annoy Chrysalis)
Maybe he was scared because he’s not as strong as he once was when he absorbed almost all the magic in Equestria.
On one part, it was absolutely comedic especially when they went to each other “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!”
But on the other one, I didn’t like it cause as an actual fan of Tirek, I know that he’d never be scared of a creature like this.
